I'm not seeing the Rockets catching any ground on the Warriors this year. We still have too many one dimensional offensive players. I hope I'm wrong, but from the preseason it just looks like Harden and CP are simply going to take turns running PnR and aren't really evolving the offense much from last year. Harden doesn't seem like he improved much as an off ball player either during the off season. I still saw way too many pull up, off the dribble 3s from him which was hella disappointing. I don't understand why he takes 5-6 of them every game. That's like how many Steph takes. Even KD doesn't take that many.

Either way, as long as the Warriors can have 5 players on the court that can pass, dribble, and shoot at an elite level we won't see them anyway.

Yea. I can see us winning 52-58 games this year, a top 3 seed, and a highly entertaining 2nd round series vs the Thunder or Spurs... but that 80 million going to Anderson just kills us. And Pringles is still Pringles. Nothing really changes other than CP3 isn't as turnover prone as Harden, so our late game execution wouldn't be as embarrassing as it got last year whenever we found ourselves in close games.

As currently constructed, a series vs GS would mirror what we saw from Cleveland this past NBA finals. Which is a problem, bc we can't rely on having 4 historic shooting nights in 7 tries to win.

The funny thing is that Morey has repeatedly said that the rockets could beat GS cause they can have 4 great shootings games out of 7 :mjlol:

The real questions I have is...when harden is running high screen and roll is chirs just another spot up shooter...cause that is a big waste of his talents

And if Chris is running high screen and roll is Harden just a spot up shooter...cause that is a big waste of his talents

Spurs gave the blue print of how to beat them in the playoffs where by game 6 houston offense looked Memphis Grizzlies bad...and the blue print was in the scheme and not the players so pretty much any team could run with it...

Will have to wait and see though...if they just have Chris as a spot of shooter all year then they lost that deal HORRIBLY...they gave up a draft pick and rotational players for an older point guard who win lose or draw is going to be demanding max or near max money in the offseason

I can't wait to see the rockets play for real cause I REALLY don't understand how their offense is going to be any better than it was last year...they just substituting harden and chris spot up shooting for someone else spot up shooting...

Chris Paul shot 49.3% on spot up 3's last year.

2nd best % in the league behind Pau.

So yea I think it makes a difference having him taking that shot rather than sub 30% Corey Brewer or Sam Dekker:ehh:

Plus the offense will stay on 11 the whole game with either Harden or CP facilitating.

I have serious doubts that when it comes time to take a spot up 3 off high pick and roll the person the defense leaves open is Chris Paul...I kind of feel like he will be the person the defense makes sure isn't open...

Also Chris did that playing next to a gawd Tier shooter in JJ...one of the few people in the nba that you would rather cover and leave Chris paul open to shot spot up shots...and the rockets don't have anything near the level of shooter that JJ is for Chris to work with...

Clippers also had DJ keeping a big glued to his hip so that every play didn't end in an easy lob...don't know if capella is there yet commanding the type of attention around the rim that DJ did

No doubt CP is a great spot up shooter but the offense they ran in LA is WAY different than what Houston ran...

By "great shooting game", I mean comparable to what the Cavs did in game 4 of the Finals where they pretty much had the greatest 3pt shooting display in NBA history...

To try and replicate that 4 times in 7 tries... that's the burden that would be put on the offense, even if Chris and Harden are seamless, unless the defense with our other pieces is improved. And since Anderson himself holds 80 million, that would've been nice to have given that to another player or 2 with better impact. But that is what it is at this point.

That's why every other person on the roster is a 3 and D guy now:takedat:

Luc, Tucker, Tarik are considerable upgrades from Brewer, Dekker, Harrell.

Or they can leave Harden open, who shot 7 out of 9 of his 3's per game contested off the dribble previously
