I like both endings and actually give the edge to the original theatrical release.
Will dying brought the movie title full circle, and leaves the viewer assuming that through his sacrificed humanity was saved.
With him surviving and a sequel, I can only assume it'll be some kind of "we didn't have the cure after all" and rehash the plot points of the original.
I'm definitely going to see it in theaters with positive expectations because I loved the first one...just saying...I prefer the theatrical ending for those reasons.

The version of them in this movie were too animalistic. The human element was missing. Taunting gone. Even that alternate ending was bullshyt. Too late.

the movie was based off a book that had the hero dying in the end of the same name that had several movies spun off from it. so back then people who were following the movie assumed it would be the same. except will smith pulled a will smith and made out like the hero when he was supposed to be the actual villain of the story...making him the legend among all the "vampires" he killed trying to find a cure. either way it was a dope movie and im glad they making another

Yes, altho the original book was called "I am Legend." Omega Man was a movie based off the book.

Thats why the movie is called, "I am Legend."

Hollywood doofuses said the original ending didn't test well, so they had Will go out in a blaze of glory and sacrifice himself for the family. It was stupid as fukk and while the movie is good, it loses itself. The alternate ending makes everything that happens in that movie so much more poignant and real and makes a lot more sense.

It wasn't Will Smith. The real ending was filmed first. They reshot it after test audiences didn't like the ending.
