I like both endings and actually give the edge to the original theatrical release.
Will dying brought the movie title full circle, and leaves the viewer assuming that through his sacrificed humanity was saved.
With him surviving and a sequel, I can only assume it'll be some kind of "we didn't have the cure after all" and rehash the plot points of the original.
I'm definitely going to see it in theaters with positive expectations because I loved the first one...just saying...I prefer the theatrical ending for those reasons.
