I am primarily a BJJ guy, although I have trained some Muay Thai for the past six months. A MT guy comes into our gym once a week, my hands are not that great but I have a pretty good leg kick.
My sister's boyfriend is a Kyokushin Karate guy, and last night my mouth got the best of me. He was going on and on about the conditioning that Kyokushin provides and the toughness that it builds.
I told him bluntly that there is no striking art that builds conditioning and toughness like Muay Thai. I proceeded to tell him that no hitting in the face simply does not reflect reality, and that the art should not be qualified as a form of self defense. This really pissed him off.
The situation was uncomfortable to say the least. This guy was acting like I was a punk ass bytch and couldn't admit that his striking was inferior. Granted, he has done Kyo for 11 years and has gone to "world" championships, I am confident that my Muay Thai will teach him a lesson and waken him up to the modern world.
My question: to all of you Kyo guys out there, what is the best method for dealing with a Kyo guy. My current plan is to chop him down with leg kicks, but all advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Bill
