Soon as I get home and try, I get bored as fukk and take a weekend trip somewhere and spend money on food, gas, partying, shopping and other random shyt :pachaha:

I get paid Friday so it is time to get focused brehs :youngsabo:

I'm bad at this too. Try reading the Richest Man in Babylon. Short book about saving money, basically you save 1/10th, use 2/10th to pay bills, debts and 7/10ths to live till your next pay. The book explains it better and gives you stories about freed slaves making gwop with this technique.

I don't have steady income to but this into practice right now. But its a $10 book, about 120 pages or less. Worth checking out.

I used to be this way, but I got tired of getting paid, kicking it on the weekend, then by Weds my funds are low and I don't have anything tangible to show for the money I spent.

Alot of it was just changing lil shyt, like drinking at home or before I get some where so I'm not spending a grip on drinks. Eating at home rather than eating out..

But as far as saving, I've gotten alot better with that (thanks to wifey). Me and her opened up an account with Ally Bank (good interest rate) and we simply put $50 from each paycheck in the account and let it cook. So if we want to go on a lil trip, hit the casino, go to a concert or buy a big ass bottle of patron or whatever thats our entertainment fund and we don't have to worry about struggling with bills or whatever.

Its a bit of hassle but the shyt pays off..

But sometimes I just gotta smoke a blunt and turn on my PS3 to stop me from getting out there with my potnas and spending that money though

You have to treat it like you would rent/mortgage or utilities. If you'd fukk off that money, then I don't know what else to tell you.

Also you should allow yourself some spending or "fun" money. So say you're trying to save $100 , save $60 instead and blow that $40 left over.

You should also have your savings go to a separate account that you can't see. My saving is stored at a credit union and I don't have a debit card for the account or anything. Start small and work your way up.

Might have to check out the book.

I try to save as much as possible (and forget about it) and actually put myself in a situation where I have to weigh each and every purchase.

For example, a non-rent check $1000

Save 40% or $400, Leaving $600

Bills are $300, Leaving $300 FOR 2 WEEKS

I have to get petrol, groceries, night out with the wife throughout the weeks, Leaving me $75 for 5 days.

All the while I ignore the originally saved $400.

Example shows me that if times got real rough, I could hold my own with the little bit I have until the next payday.

Has worked for me since I started working full-time. :manny:

Do you guys have a written budget?

If so just make sure it covers everything because it shouldn't just be for bills and stuff. If you know you want to go out with your boys, then budget $50 (or whatever) per pay and that's your "fun" money. When that's gone it's gone. That way you're not restricting yourself or feeling like you failed if you go out with your boys. You can do that in addition to setting aside money for savings.

It's ok to enjoy your money but just know where it's going.
