HYPOTHETICALLY . . Would Mayweather Vs. GGG at 154 be more interesting than Pacquiao?

Give GGG a year bruhs before we start mentioning his name in the same breath as Mayweather.

I'm not some boxing expert AT ALL but hasn't GGG fought a bunch of tomato cans so far?

It would not and floyd shouldnt fight him anyway. When maidana can out size you and effectively (though not enough to win) use it against you. No reason to fight a giant MW. Manny was a boogey man whom was murdering guys whom showed aome adversity with floyd. Manny got beat and floyd should bask in it. Fight a final fight that makes easy money and retire.
This!!! Floyd shouldn't fight him

To me,commentators asking for this or just hoping and praying someone beats floyd. I'm not a fan of boxers moving up too high and letting a lesser talent make a name off them dude to the size difference. I'm still pissed 50 let gamboa fight crawford, though that's not as bad. Because I know 50/gamboa got played.

50 new to the game he'll learn soon enough. I think Floyd is smart enough not to fight him tho

list/post the actual proof..as i need to see who in the world would think that floyd vs GGG would sell more than pac-floyd on PPV

this would be seen as the same level as floyd-guerrero and flop the same except GGG is a better boxer and fighter and not a complete joke

Nobody said it would sell more, nor was that said in this thread (although the question was asked) instead it has just been suggested as his next fight

Basically the consensus here is that putting him up against GGG and promoting it as "Mayweather's most dangerous opponent yet" wouldn't be any different then putting him up against Thurman under the same guise. I think Mayweather beats both but is more likely to take truly punishing shots against GGG. Putting him against GGG is like Rocky vs Drago or trying to beat that dude at the end of Fight Night Champion . . It would be a great notch under his belt though, but personally I'd rather see him take Kell Brook's belt and snatch someone else's zero before retiring after a 50th fight next year. I believe him acting like he's retiring at 49 and 0 is just a marketing ploy for the next fight. Too much money will be on the table for the 50th fight, not just the number and it truly being his final fight but because he would actually be free to negotiate a new deal and with in-roads made on network television Mayweather Promotions and Al Haymon could make a lot of money with a prime time event of Super Bowl proportions

No way it would sell more. Floyd and Manny were the two most popular fighters there have been in quite a while. Both capable of carrying good PPV numbers just off their name.

The only fight that I think could get PPV buys of over 2 million right now is if Mayweather and Canelo do a rematch.

And even though writer's suggest they want the fight...want Mayweather to challenge himself and fight the monster at 160...everything I have read they say there is no chance of it ever happening.

Dan gets asked this question in nearly every chat and he states that he believes 100% that Mayweather will never take that fight.

Mayweather has plenty of credible opponents at 147...GGG is just too big at 160.

but your posing a ridiculous question that nobody would ever need to pose because the answer is so obvious :mindblown:
Sales might be a ridiculous notion . . But the prospect of this match-up is being mentioned . . So maybe I used the sales question as a cover to discuss this hypothetical fight. If Mayweather took this fight it would be the ultimate way to shut up his critics

Keep in mind, Mayweather puts up 2 million sales in PPV anyway. These people are likely fans of him as the general public is more likely to catch highlights after rather then pay to see his fight - the thing is he can probably do these numbers against anyone so the incentive might not be worth the risk . . Unless he's truly motivated by shutting up critics
