I work for a major cable news channel.
Besides health, vision and dental plans employees get three free meals throughout the day; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is on top if all the free complimentary food they provide 24/7. Chips, fountain drinks, tea, coffee, crackers, health bars, nuts, candies and cookies whenever. We get a corporate card that's good for any travel requirements or work expenses. I get free car service home from work. We get unlimited sick days, no joke....and no it's not as great as you think.
And that's just what I can think of as far as day to day work. There are tons of little employee benefits and discounts I haven't even looked into.
Oh and most of all it's a company that embraces diversity. "Woke" if you will. And having spent a decade in this industry I can tell you how prevalent racial prejudice really is in the TV business and how glad I am to work for a company that embraces, respects and protects diversity. I've been to some jobs where hearing little racist conversations about "certain neighborhoods" even from your supervisor, was prevalent and something you just had to deal with or walk away from when it comes up every day. They didn't even see at racist to demonize all random black people as killers and all black communities as shoot out zones where you will surely end up dead if you go anywhere close. I had to remind people every day I was born and raised in these neighborhoods they call "bad" and "scary," and I still visit every day.
The amount of c00ns I had to deal with who will say and do anything to advance their career would make your head spin. Going along with these sort of conversations, being agreeable to their bigoted white friends, and proudly accepting their status as "someone who made it out" would make your head spin.
