Chimps are cunning and dangerous especially when attacking in numbers.

Gorillas are territorial so it’s just likely to be just one silverback out there by himself for a whole forest.

Gorillas are good fathers. I remember watching this one video of one interacting with his kid.

Chimps roll deep as opposed to a silverback who is the only protector of his family. Plus the chimps are not gonna go up against a silverback when they can get a soft target like a baby or female.
