Your first paragraph isn't my point though. What I mean is that they would not get behind having their currency tied to others. Especially, nations like Greece, Italy, Spain, etc. With the EU's struggles they now look vindicated.

I see what you're saying. But countries facing issues are precisely those with bad basic economic decisions (Spain, with the real estate bubble), corruption and fiscal evasion (Greece) and general slow growth (Italy). They would have been f*cked no matter what. Countries with sound economic have not had huge issues to deal with, so one could make the case that even if Great-Britain had adopted the EU, given their good economy they wouldn't have faced such problems. SO yeah they indeed feel vindicated, but one just had to look at countries actually doing well in the Eurozone to see that that sense of vindication may be misplaced.
