I know drug dealers nikkas is grimey but I honestly cant see even the grimiest hood nikkas killing huey Newton over a drug dispute, especially back then.

Why not? Especially over some weight. He was given several of passes because of his past. But he was really out here pulling licks and damn near daring nikkas to do something.

As a youngin, I used to visit my family in acorns & I remember him being a fast talker with a soft voice. Some of my family were active Panthers but I only knew the name: Huey P. Newton, not the face. I remember the young d boys saying he wasn't no punk in them streets and the og's saying he was a sucka for something he did to Geronimo Pratt.

Alot of them Panthers were college educated with degrees. Sharp as fukk but when that crack came in it was a wrap. Especially here in the Bay Area.

What really just blew me away was hearing Jawanza Kunjufu talk. I was like “wow this brother is articulate and clear in thinking, lemme google him and see what he’s about”. I get blown away that he was the author of countering the conspiracy to destroy black boys. Great book I read in college and still have is my bookcase.

Panthers were a legit and highly respected group in his reign. I would have loved for them to have spawned into a major political party. A group like this could legit chase reparations. But the propaganda that they're a black klan holds alot of weight with even the most liberal minded whites and they don't have the clout in the community at large that they used to.
