I love him. My dad met with him many times since he was a member of the New York chapter of the BPP. I always found the circumstances of his death suspicious.

His death was on some internal hood shyt. His folks tried to play him out of some weight and Huey wasn't no sucka so R shot him. It was on some Rico/Mitch shyt.

My comrade has a pic they all took (including the shooter) the day before he was murdered.

Also, one of my folks still got them twin .45's Huey used to carry back in the day. I won't get into how or why he got 'em.

The false narrative was that R shot him to gain rank with the Family... It don't work like that.

There also isn't the same platform there was before.
We're out here letting dicey people like David Banner and Tariq Nasheed get on national television and "debate", when they aren't as well-versed in policy and intersectional issues, like the Black Panther PhDs were.
You can throw up people like Kathleen Cleaver, Angela Davis, Michelle Alexander, Cornell West, Frederick Cornelius Harris and the like who have a good blend of wit alongside a heavy body of work in the area, but they're trying to live their lives and work in academia alongside advocating for a voice in specific issues.

Dr. Newton (he held a phD which they never want you to know about) at around 14 minutes mentions how the Black Panther party was systematically destroyed and mentions the spying and the Counter Intelligence Program. Times really don't change. 28 years ago black America was talking about the prison industrial complex but it wasn't until the Clinton administration in the 90s that the effects became so astronomical. He put more black men away than any other presidency. Nobody seemed to care until now when it's a hot button issue, which still won't be resolved.

Most of the destruction of the black panther party nationally was done by Newton himself though.
He is the one that shut down all the successful chapters and told everyone they need to move to Oakland and worship him.
He is the one that kick all the other publicly known and ideological founders of the movement out and turned it into a cult of personality centered on him.
He is the one that chose to use the Panthers to start an extortion racket on the communities they operated in demanding black members of the community pay him protection fees or have their businesses burned down.
He is the one who raped black women repeatedly while smoking crack and using his white liberal political connections to keep the victims of his rape, abuse, and murder quiet.
