At the beginning of mean streets
I'll post this again for anyone who missed it. Lol Breh there's a reason why we were enslaved and continue to be marginalized globally. White people aren't thinking about 2050. They thinking about 7045. That 400 year head start is multiplied by 20 in technological advances. :dead: at you dudes really believe cause they call Barrack a negro the same way they call Wesley 'means they won't acknowledge his white ancestry very quick.

Basically, it's to the point where a lot of non-African Americans are hesitant to even call themselves black, not simply because they have self hate, but because they don't want those problems.

mexicans and ricans aren't from south america, that could be why?

whenever I visit my fam they're like 'eres negro' lol

but yes I agree, latinos go by nationality before anything else when identifying. for the most part they don't care if you're black white asian. but it still dont explain why no latino presidents or anything are never black, or even mixed with black. or why the females sex symbols are never black, etc. but i aint going to get into that whole conversation :

edit: actually trujillo was part black and he powdered his skin to look lighter .. racist puto

Very contradictory statement and I see this a lot from latinos. For some reason you guys like to ignore the fact that discrimination based on race is very persistent within your countries. You guys very much do care how you are represented globally. That's why fairer skinned people are almost always represented in politics in media within your countries.

The 1% are still in power, that's why. btw mexico did have a part black president, in fact I think that's who their first president was.

1930s nazism propaganda changed a lot of how the south americans were viewing things, but after the cold war they got a rude awakening when the U.S started fukking with them, they realized real quick them cacs weren't viewing them white lol. Even Argentina got a rude awakening when the U.S turned a blind eye to the Falkland Wars.

I am one who thinks that discrimination based on race is persistent but it's not even close to how it's like in America

for instance, in brasil they didn't even have affirmative action for the longest time. then a university tried doing it and there was a huge shyt show because people were like 'were all brasilian' but the darker skin ones were like 'well why the f they're aint more blacks being represented'

The only place I really see race discussed like that is on the coli.

The people who obviously look mixed (dudes who dont look black) get considered mixed, that pretty much only goes for males. Mixed females are basically put in the same categories as light skinned black women to me.

Light skinned dudes who happen to be mixed are pretty much considered light skinned nikkas to me.

It doesn't bother me at all when they do this. For one even the darkest Dominican or Brazilian is most likely multigenerationally mixed ie coming from parents who are both mixed raced. That is vastly different from the average African American. I don't get insulted and I don't even think twice about their reasoning for doing so. At the end of the day it's not a big deal to me.

:stopitslime: This country has a long way to go but we are overly represented in media and politics based on our percentages in this country. We are the most represented minority in media and politics. Brothers and sisters and Latin/South America can't even get affirmative action passed do to disingenuous racists apologists such as yourself. fukk outta here :camby:

I think it's more classism to be honest. I spent a lot of time in Brazil, and there were just as many lighter shades in the favela, and they got treated just as bad as the dark shade. Richer blacks such as myself (when I didn't talk they wouldnt know) didn't seem to have a problem. They could tell I was a different breed by my attire and the way I carried myself. Money talks in latin america. You think a native looking dude with a suit and tie cash strapped is getting denied entry any where? nah. hell no. the poor natives would call him a play boy (what they call rich white folks) super quick.

Must be tough for biracial folks sometimes. If they were to say they weren't black, you'd have black people saying that they hate themselves and that they obviously ARE black...:patrice:

...but at the same time, you've got black people telling them they're not black. :mindblown:

Can't win, it seems. Must be confusing for the kids. :wow:

Pretty much. I'm mixed (Black-White) and I swear Black people ALWAYS get confused about it, whether I say I'm mixed ("Oh you think you're special huh?") or not ("You're not a REAL Black"):russ:

It's only confusing to you because you are one race and can not wrap your mind around being 2. Many people can't. They are biracial, a hybrid, they are only asked to choose because people want to put people in brackets, and they cross lines, which blocks people from doing that. But, in reality, they ARE able to cross lines and be both. It's only confusing to everyone ELSE. To them, they are just both, if anything they must be frustrated people keep asking "which do you ID with", then when they say both, peoples brains go haywire. :heh:

Pretty much again. I found at that most people (especially on this forum lol) really have a hard time with complexity, nuances, blurred lines etc. I'm not gonna lie, it IS hard sometimes to be mixed: you are rejected on occasions from both "sides", perceived as a "traitor to the race" (shoutout to the-coli resident black power e-militants :deadmanny:), have no clear "group" to claim, etc...but at the same time you have much easier access to both cultures, even more so that I was fortunate enough to live in both of my countries. I'm closer to Blacks than most White people, and closer to White people than most Black people, culturally that's quite enriching. But I understand people who see the world in a binary way can't really appreciate that. I try not to blame them.
