UK politicians are united in their condemnation of the US withdrawal it seems, saying the days of trusting America are at an end....
Two articles below is the story of an Afghan who provided security at the British Embassy, who was denied asylum in the UK.
Can't make this up.
They (Europe/UK) are pretty pissed at the US though. There’s been a few articles in the WaPo about it. They’re concerned there is going to be another refugee crisis on their doorstep plus any terrorist groups taking hold in Afghanistan is scarier for them being on the same landmass or in the UK’s case, across the channel. We’re an ocean away so we don’t gaf. I know Macron has been talking about beefing up Europe’s armed forces recently so this just reaffirms that viewpoint as well.
NATO pulled out in 2014 or some shyt what the fukk did they think would happen
None of the arguments put forward are in good faith
Im sure NATO didn’t pull out without having a discussion with the US breh
That's the point I'm making...
dtowndramus.
Americans have real short memories.Ok and what happens when it goes back up by the end of next month then what?
I’m not seeing it. They’re upset because they’re implying the US is shooting from the hip again and doing things without considering implications for their allies after saying the Trump America First era was over. Saying NATO pulled out their troops too doesn’t compute because A) it didn’t destabilize things in the same way, B) I’m sure it wasn’t the US was properly notified and C) NATO is like our 5 yo brother let’s be real here. The unspoken agreement is America is the Western world’s military.
The majority of actual ground troops left in 2014. There was a token US force and a few other countries, limited air support, and training for the Afghan Army/Police.
NATO/Europe knew then what was happening. I'm sure they hoped the Afghans would stand on their own feet with all the training but that never panned out and they knew it.
Trump gave the Taliban the go ahead which is horrible but it couldn't have been undone without committing a huge force.
NATO ie US troop withdraws brought the fighting component of the war to an end for the West.
Karzi wanted us out too
Maybe recheck the timeline of events
