It is what it is at this point after infrastructure nothing else will pass. The GQP plays the game of obstruction perfectly because they know the Democratic leadership is too incompetent and cowardly to do anything. Not to mention there is at least a dozen moderate democratic senators that are not 100% behind Biden's agenda. They are letting Manchin and Sinema to get all the flack and smoke. So it is what it is. The GQP is purposely dragging the infrastructure debate so there wouldn't be enough time for it to pass via reconciliation. Ultimately it will pass via reconciliation or a bipartisan weak bill. After this nothing will get done.
Isn't this the job of the whip? Who is the senate whip for the Democrats?
edit: Its dikk Durbin. So, I went back and looked at the minimum wage vote and how he acted and found this.
So even the whip is pulling punches. These dudes aren't serious about progressive measures. His job is to force members of the party to be on the same page. His progressive wing is calling for pulling out all the stops to get their agenda, the most important part of their job, done. He instead sides with the centrists in the Senate and the White House to shoot down the progressive strategy even if it means the death of their agenda. This tells you, the centrists aren't as committed to the minimum wage increase as their progressive peers.
Whenever something like this happens, always put it in contrast with what they say is stopping them from doing something to see which one they clearly value and how much they actually value the agenda. In this case, they valued the tradition of the parliamentarian more than the minimum wage increase which tells you that they aren't as passionate about it as they claim.
