Any of yall see this?

My brother covered this story for our podcast (episode isn't out yet or I'd timestamp it and post). It's wild. No one in that town even remembers the last election they had because the mayors have just been passing on the title instead of doing anything official. Then when they lost due to someone legally filing to run for mayor, the old white dudes just held secret meetings behind his back and kept on running business as usual.

Didn’t we have posters like @mastermind mad that Biden made them work while negotiating?
To be fair, the purpose of a strike is to force the hand of the owners to give you what your want due to lost of revenue caused by the work stoppage. By working while negotiating, the workers don't have any leverage.

In any context, negotiations are all about leverage, and the only leverage workers have is their labor. While it's great that the workers were still able to get the sick days they wanted while working, this is more of the exception than the rule.

To be fair, the rail workers asked him for that again in December and he delivered. Just give the administration credit.

Pete too?

I give the administration all the credit for this. I just fear that if a similar situation happens, people will point to this situation as not using the threat of strike as the rule and not the exception.

Normally with collective bargaining the the strike or threat of strike is what gets you what you want. We have 95 years of US collective bargaining efforts that prove that.

Exactly.

And for the record, I dapped the post and copied the post in the Rail Workers strike thread. I have the Biden Administration credit for this and the workers deserve more credit for striking.

The Supreme Court blocked the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plan on Friday, invalidating a program aimed at delivering up to $20,000 of relief to millions of borrowers with outstanding debt in aftermath of Covid, @Arianedevogue reports

I don't know what he can do except sign another moratorium, and he just signed that power away in the Debt limit deal. :francis:

What's this supposed to mean? This issue, more than anything else, impacts me the most :dahell:

I said I'd see what Biden did. What's wrong with that? :dahell:
Biden has done everything possible to provide relief. He can’t counter a SC ruling or a Republican house

This should motivate you to vote Dems more but y’all nikkas play dumb
