People's read on the Ohio situation is terrible
Obviously the company Norfolk southern is paying heavy lobbying money to both sides(Pete Buttigieg literally got fact checked by his own team about what can be done) which allows them to use cheap and dangerous braking technology, over load these trains with too many cars, and understaff these trains. Nobody but independent media is talking about this

Neither side is attacking the rail company the governor or even the EPA,
the same company that is poisoning their water with the controlled burn and instead talking about the gov't response to the crash which should be important but holding the company responsible should be the main focus. The media is not talking about this situation much because they obviously can't cover this story in an unbiased manner without attacking norfolk southern.

Now the residents are stuck and the situation is a political football

I know some of his post-President life. But aside from the oil crisis and iran embassy, I know nothing of Jimmy Carter's Presidency.
Jimmy Carter was the last progressive democratic president. He wanted America to be on track to only rely on fossil fuels for 20% of the nation's energy by sometime around 2000. He also campaigned for universal healthcare when he tried to run for re-election in 1980.

His defeat by Reagan along with Reagan slaughtering the democrats in 1984 is what led to the democratic party shifting right and the ratchet effect strategy.

I wouldn’t call him a progressive :whoa:

He was our first neoliberal president and was a major hawk.

But he was more to the left than any president we’ve had since, particularly on the environment.

I guess a more accurate description is that Jimmy Carter was the last Great Society democrat
