Yes, a campaign promise made to appease the left who complained he wasn't progressive enough. The idea of student loan forgiveness was made mainstream thanks to push from Sanders and Warren. The new messaging coming from the White House was not a campaign promise though, and is something AOC has been directly calling for for years now.
