Progressive movement is largely a movement constrained to liberal big cities.
If you're looking to grow that movement you're either going to have to make concessions with others on the left or somehow rope in the vile creatures on the right who have happily supported Trumpism.
If anyone has tried to rope in the vile creatures on the right (we are 100% in agreement on their vileness btw), it's been the moderate wing of the party. Clinton pivoted to get them back from the Republicans, moving the country and party right in the process. I'm not aware of when the far left struck an alliance with the far right, but this may be a subject I can be educated on.
