What are they?
Many of them are things that are common sense/cliches, yet somehow 95% of people manage to ignore them anyway. Things like not criticizing/avoiding arguments, active listening, honestly appreciating people, admitting your mistakes, respecting other people's opinions etc.

Basically yeah, the book can help you win friends and influence people if you apply it. The thing is that it only works with relatively 'normal', 'nice' or 'decent' people. But it completely leaves you open to exploitation and abuse by people who are not. People who are cutthroat, selfish, who don't give a fukk about honesty or getting along others.

has it worked for u?

Are u now winning friends and influencing people more then ever?

I read it back in high school. I'm sure if I reread it now, my experiences in the last 10 years would correlate with a lot of the tips and strategies they suggest in the book. The book isn't gimmicky or anything, it's pretty practical and straightforward so I don't understand the sassy tone of your post.

Oh, the book also has a very optimistic "feel good" tone to it. After reading it you'll be shooting rainbows out of your ass for a while. But like I said, it has limitations. Maybe people as a whole were different in the 30s, less grimey or whatever. But I use the principles in this book carefully and never let my guard down.

I just detected some sarcasm in your post.:manny: But I think the book has helped me become a better listener and amicable negotiator.

read it. most people with a normal upbringing already know what's in it but forget to apply it in practice so it's a good reminder i guess.

If you think it literally teaches you how to better interact with people you'll be disappointed. Rather that, it stresses the importance of relationships and how people are won over by tapping into their emotions.

Now you know the secret but it doesn't tell you how to actually do this. That you have to learn for yourself through experience and practice.
