This show is mid. Just now getting around to watching after years of being in my watch queue. Just another show romanticizing the “hustle” “anyone can make it” “glamorous lives of avant garde careers” NYC

it’s like a male centered devil wears prada

yep...nikkas been overrating this show since jump

It was a feel good show, at least the first season. Didn't really care if Cudi was in it, he was a recurring character at most. It was just one of those HBO shows I could just kick back and vibe out to.

I say the first season because shyt was most definitely rushed in the second. Their rise was too quick and you could tell the show was on its way out as the writing progressively got worse. I still wish it wasn't cancelled though.

I agree. Show's like this and Entourage are just Sex and the City for men.

:hubie:

They have the right to exist and to be enjoyed, but it is what it is. I watched it during the original, but once was enough.
Yea, the show isn’t wack by any means, but I remember people whining about it being canceled, yet it’s not good enough to have gotten worked up about.

maybe I’m just in NYC hater mode, the whole grinding your way through NY to success trope has been done to death in tv and film.

it kinda wasn’t

Yes it was especially if you were living in nyc and/or trying to get into fashion. Streetwear was just starting to blow up..... I know a lot of people who loved the show back then cause they could relate to the characters. Similar things happened to them

But maybe that’s just my unique point of view :manny:

lol at “unique”...“everybody” in NYC was tryna start a clothing line at the time...streetwear was not just starting to blow up and was actually turning into an oversaturated market at that time...I understand why some related to it but that still doesn’t equate to the hype I’ve seen for the show...the premise could’ve been unique but the running joke was the show was essentially entourage with jeans

you leave entourage lite alone ...:lolbron:

What always confused me about this show was kid cudi getting top billing as a main character but having minimal screen time and lines :dead:. He was the biggest celeb on the show but this was around the booming part of his music career

It was alright, I mostly enjoyed it

Yea everyone was trying to but not many were actually doing it and succeeding

I’m not talking Screenprinting shirts or making stickers

Yea maybe it was lame in hindsight but it was good back then especially considering cudi hype And entourage was also a good show
