As a resident #marvelset representative it pains me to see our rival flounder around like a beached whale. Their effort has been valiant but they keep making the same mistakes. This is my attempt to fix it.

1. They need to reinvent the characters totally on the big screen. It simply works better in live action. This was done 2 times and it simply worked. The first was Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. It was the first time they explored Bruce Wayne's origins and explained how the learned his training and amassed his weapons. The second time was Zod and Krypton in MOS. The characters were grounded, and felt more relatable.

2. This is going to sound controversial but it's necessary. They need to either change the costumes, make them more functional or simply have them use their powers more without them for most of the movie. Aquaman "worked" because he didn't have his costume on (i'm assuming because I didn't watch it) for most of the movie. And they need to stop putting abs on the costume. That shyt is played out. Wonder Woman's costume isn't functional, and i'm surprised feminists haven't come out to say it's sexualizing. I know the OG character in the comics has it, but it simply doesn't fit, and it also doesn't ground the character. Keeping these uniforms the same basically looks like the studios are banking on visual recognition to sell their product. Marvel changed Spiderman's suit to become for functional with multiple purposes. Even the OG Spiderman with Toby explored why he created it.

3. With Batman, you either going to keep him as a local hero, or you have to make him an international crime fighter. Otherwise, there's no point in having him in a cinematic universe because his character doesn't fit.

4. Superman is really the elephant in the room. He's too over powering, to be in a team up flick, which means the only way you can ground him is by always incorporating kryptonite into the script which gets lame after a while and redundant. There are plenty of planets with yellow suns. He needs to start exploring other worlds besides earth.

Of course non of this will happen, but eventually fans will get tired of seeing the same shyt. Marvel has even stolen ideas from the DCEU beating them to the punch.

they just need to not rush things and have someone who has a singular vision on what story they want to tell.

they were idiots for rushing into JL, and stupid for recasting/rebooting Batman/Superman so many times.

Whoever running it has the same retarded mentality as KK...both DC and SW fukked themselves constantly.

I've generally liked the films they've released, but as a universe, it's just ass.

They have the DCAU as a blueprint...shoulda used that

A movie like JL is something you built up to over time. This was literally a random one off. There doesn't appear to be someone in charge of the overall vision. I imagine they came to or asked Nolan to be that guy, but again, with these characters, it's impossible to make them grounded as they are presently portrayed in pop culture. And not having a legit Superman origin movie was dumb, because that would've been the perfect time to do it.

Marvel didn't need to do it with Spider Man when he was inserted into the MCU because he was still in high school and just got his powers.

So they need to just go back to doing stand alone trilogies if they're not willing to reinvent the characters. Otherwise you will get the same recycled stories every 8 or so years. One reboot after the next.

Yeah I agree with all that.

JL shoulda been at least 4-5 movies in.

I don't think we'd necessarily need origin flicks though (at least not for Supes or Bats).

If you're going to reimagine the characters you do.

Star Wars episode 1 barely focused on Anakin. MOS could've focused entirely on Krypton. MOS 2 could've focused on Clark Kent and his evolution. And what if other Kyptonians escaped and build a world on another planet? What if Zod had to deal with Wonder Woman and Aquaman? Zod could've been the main villian in JL. What if Krypton had beefs with other planets that spilled over to Earth. You got Amalak, Rogol Zaar, Brainiac... but they keep recycling the same foes.

Just like people don't want an origin story, I don't want Lex Luthor :mjpls:

These nikkas just need to take things slow.

They should just create and focus on a Batverse....and sprinkle some other DC heroes from there and grow it that way

Do like Disney did Star wars and hire all the animation talent to real positions. Decide if you are going to have a shared universe or one off everything and begin laying seeds. Stop depending on your big names and get all your great characters a chance to build up towards the big event. Don't pull a marvel and kill your big bad at the end of every movie.

It's way to late to play the Xbox 360 and just jump in vs. marvel. Do what makes sense for your properties, honestly the way the comics on DC end are set up you have the perfect framing for the multiverse already just be smart about your positioning and have a coherent through line to your shyt. Marvel doesn't get enough praise for how they litter so much shyt into the background that they can either pull from in later movies that even if it wasn't meant for something later people give them props for the callbacks. Use that if you are going to take anything. And please build up your universe with your heroes before jumping into the team up movie.

They need to do a proper flashpoint not using the current homo dude that skates through time (Ezra Miller) and explore thee entire DCEU then kill them all off at the hands of the anti-monitor then Flash has to reset everything.

After that, they need to do an entire reboot which starts with Pattinson's Batman. They should take their time with it, adding cameos from your favorite DC characters and have good directors at the helm.

James Gunn should direct Lantern Corps.

They were back on track with the one offs and letting director's do whatever. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Joker were all successes and they barely or didn't connect. And the Batman is looking good not connected to anything bigger as well.
Unless they get a Feige type who loves DC comics and wants to bring it to the big screen refrain from anything more grandiose than a trilogy.

They basically need someone who understands comics to oversee it all. Their animated series were almost always fire so whomever produced all of those shows should have input on everything. It doesn't have to be one interconnected universe, but they can't let someone end one of their cornerstone franchises with a mom speech (WW84). Someone should've been there to nix that idea from a fan standpoint.

Batman is almost always usually fine because he has the best villains to work with and that's how they should produce the movies. If there's not a good enough villain then the movie isn't going to work. The Marvel universe worked because they had Thanos to fight against. WW should've never been made with Max Lord as the main guy.

There's plenty of fly ass Superman comics where he's not nerfed, but also he's not overpowered. The people who make the movies keep leaning on the lex luthor shyt and that's not interesting anymore. Superman can nuke Lex from orbit. The one where he fought the Zod was actually pretty good.

They need a steady hand on the wheel. IMO. Someone who's not just an exec.

Probably an unpopular choice due to some of his convoluted work on TV, but Damon Lindelof absolutely bodied the 'Watchmen' series. They basically need to find someone who is obsessive about DC as someone like Dave Filoni is about Star Wars to oversee. I'd take Kevin Smith as an outside bet. He's a hardbody Batman stan, who has written movies, comics and directed film and TV.

Bringing Snyder back beyond this Justice League fix would put him above Joss Whedon in the 'Cacs failing upwards stakes' and he's already bricked a couple times.

You fundamentally do not understand Batman or Superman if you think these are reasonable points. Thid line of think is why we keep getting shytty live action dbz Superman movies with a hero who barely speaks. Why we see Batman killing ppl with guns in one movie and being reduced to comic relief the next movie. The current ppl in charge of the DCU have this same flawed thinking. You dont need to make Batman and Superman more easy to digest to the general public. 80 years of the same fukking stories say they already are.

Current Superman can move planets with ease but still sells stories.
The streets of Gotham has a new crimelord every 4 months but Batman still sells stories

I like the Kevin Smith choice, he knows his fukkin' comic books and he has film production and directing under his belt.
