A lot of people, black, white, or whatever, actually are faking their outrage. Folks are acting like this is a brand new subject. If folks wanted shyt to stop, shyt would have ended eons ago.

On top of all that, you know damn well many white people subconciously feel threatened about their benefits or favoritism or positive biases being taken away. I think many of them know that half of the shyt they have received or got going for them wouldn't be possible if the system wasnt the way it is now. Probably wouldn't have got that job, that opportunity, that grant, that go home warning from that cop that pulled them over, that house in such and such neighborhood and a whole lot of shyt just for being white. Of course other things matter as well such as skillset, talent, work, ambition, networking, smarts, who you know and etc but skin color does play a factor. It explains why some white people who are mediocre or even dont do shyt, can even come up without working hard. I'm sure folks are well aware of that. So theyll do something but it ain't gonna be anything to tip the balancing scale. No way.

And as many others have said also. It allows them to control the movement. Want to see who really is down for the cause. Ask them about whether black people deserve tangibles such as reparations.

they make us less of a target:manny:

the more people see how needlessly violent cops are towards people who look like them and their family, the more likely police reform will occur.

This is my biggest takeaway. These protests have finally exposed law enforcement to the wider (and whiter) world for being what a lot of us already knew them to be: cowardly, mindless, violent THUGS on a power trip who terrorize entire groups of people and communities on a daily basis for NO REASON other than their own personal amusement.

These white and non-black protesters, journalists, medics, photographers, etc are being ambushed and getting gassed, being shot point blank with rubber bullets and losing eyes or having their heads bust open, run over by police cars (or horses), beaten in the streets with batons for simply walking away, yanked off their bicycles and having them stolen by cops or having the tires on their parked cars slashed. They needed not only to see the breadth and depth of police militarization and brutality, they needed to EXPERIENCE it.

If anything, this shyt has a lot of white people shook. Being hit in the face (literally even) with the fact that their whiteness can't and won't save them if the cops are on a mission to terrorize and brutalize whoever even appears to disagree with them has been a stark realization.

I hate to say it but we really can't do this shyt on our own and telling or even showing them how the police treat us was never going to be enough.

If the white folks marching and protecting Black people, working with legislators, getting racist CACs fired/exposing racists are really about this fight, they'll be in for the long haul.

Check back in a bit and see who's still with around in July 2021 just as pissed about anti-blackness and police brutality then as they are right this second.

Haven't posted here in 3 years so good to be back.

I have a question on my mind that I'm not (entirely) sure what to make of...

There seems to be a significant subset of non-black population protesting for or support BLM movement and against racism in general.....I hope I don't need to convince you guys of this as you can all see the tens of thousands of people marching both in the US and abroad.

What do you make of this? I remember back when I used to surf here that the prevailing opinion were that whites were the devil and inherently racist. Did the events over the past week change anybody's mind? Do you think white people have finally come to acknowledge racial discrimination against blacks that exists in this country, at a level not seen before?

I want to make clear I'm not talking about whether all this will amount to any legislation or real change, but solely talking about mainstream perception among non-blacks.

Serious responses only please (wishful thinking i know, but lets give it a try)

Funny that seeing as we are the only ones blamed for looting.:martin:

I'm white.

What the government and other whites have done to minorities is atrocious. Been yelling back and forth at family since this all kicked off how black Americans and indegenous people built this country yet never were paid for the blood, land and lives ruined to build this racist country. The government can handout billions to companies but cant pay black Americans for their suffering is bullshyt. Every White person owes black Americans an apology and the government owes black Americans trillions in reparations and needs to return native Americans their land.

Everything is this country white Americans enjoy is because your ancestors built the foundation. For that I say thank you but I'm sorry it came in the form of slavery, oppression and destructive and racist policies designed to keep the black community and the black family from prospering. Every issue facing the black community today whether it's lack of resources, mass incarceration, lack of education reform , racist police and crime, single parenting all can be traced back to this racist system that still exists today. Putting puppets out like Candace Owens, Terrence Williams, and Ben Carson to say racism has been eradicated is a slap in the face to MLK, Malcolm X and so many other black leaders who lost their lives in the struggle for equal rights, opportunity and equal justice in America.

Until white Americans acknowledge and except responsibility for their governments actions it's oppression won't end regardless of party. Dr West was right when he said it was no surprise BLM happened with a black POTUS, black AG and black DHS who cared more about Wall Street and the Pentagon than black Americans. What I don't get as an outsider is the hating within the black community wrt to types like Umar and Tariq who imo are enriching themselves while further dividing the black community. I don't understand that at all and it seems to make it harder for the black community to fully unite that's jmo.

The best way to ensure equality is not to reform this system but to abolish it. That and stomp out these white supremacists not just physically if attacked but vocally as well. Be so loud whatever hate their spewing falls on deaf ears.

Nothing. I care nothing.

Start hooking black homeowners up with info on deals in your area to buy homes.

Sponsor a young league.

Support reparations.

Stand by your coworker when some racist shyt pops off.

Start a book club on Dr. King's writings or thr Auto biography of Malcolm X.

Host a viewing of some of Malcolm X's speeches.

This is the easy part.

You can’t post pictures on Facebook or Instagram doing that stuff man.

I care less about the ones protesting than I do about the ones who have personally showed concern about me.

Half of them are jumping on the bandwagon because it looks cool, and we live in the social media age where people need to take a million pics of them doing anything.

I also think a lot of them participated in the rioting because they wanted to be destructive, and this was an excuse. A lot of white people on this country aren’t doing well either, but they have the greatest PR machine, so it’s rarely shown, hence all the attention on the hood, but nobody telling Appalachia to stop being lazy, and waiting for coal to come back.
100% truth. More white Americans are on the government payroll with disability, food stamps and the like yet it's always black Americans who are looked at as the free loaders. Look at these WS militias it's all show. When shyt actually popped off where were most of them? In hiding. The truth is white Americans especially in the South where I live see what's coming and are terrified. That's why they cling to Trump and it makes me sick. Declining birth rates, more diversity and progressive policies are threatening their power structure even if they're poor. They're fighting a change they cannot win and are using the tried and true racist strategy of suppression and fear to maintain control. When they see Trump say MAGA or KAP great it means to them keep white Americans first
