I would just prefer a hybrid schedule where I could come into the office a couple days a week or something. I find it way easier to communicate in person so it’s nice every now and then to be in person, but I’d like to be able to wfh when it’s not necessary to be in the office. Unfortunately my company just built a giant new corporate office.

That has nothing to do with employers

It does

Big companies have community/govt relations positions that help align priorities for both parties.

If more ppl wfh, it will change the landscape of business and working hour consumer economics greatly

My job generates billions of dollars for the surrounding neighborhoods...the small businesses lose revenue, and the city loses tax revenue from the small businesses

And there's a city payroll tax issue too

There are many layers to this

I said what does it have to do with the employers. You are talking about government municipalities and business that live off workers, but not the employers.

The employers are responsible for generating tax revenue for the govt municipalities through their workers being in the office

WFH will change economics as we know it...hybrid work is the way to go...to completely abandon going into the office will hurt the little man

In fact, I'd argue that the big corporations will benefit the most

I agree about a hybrid work environment. What employers want is just to watch and spy on their workers. Hybrid is probably the best comprimise.

They are going to spy on people.

People are assuming stuff will stay the same for WFH, but if employers think people aren’t maximizing hours at home they will definitely start invading your home through technology.

That’s great we don’t care. If you can’t change your business model to adjust you deserve to go under.

Everyone wants capitalism to be ruthless and soul crushing until it negatively affects them then it’s all:whoa:
So true. People worship capitalism until the market doesn't support what they think it should. It's the same deal with corporate welfare.

I still don’t care because anything that requires people to go into the office also hurts employees. I and millions of others have zero obligation to be fukking miserable because of other businesses poor planning and inability to adapt. fukk them and if the government doesn’t help them that’s what these cocksucking businesses owners voted for. They hate socialism until the need it.

100% full time remote (quarterly visits to the home office) and I'm not sure I'd ever trade it to go back into the office.

I've been looking at some potential new jobs and that is my top requirement.
I’ll be leaving my job this year. Either they change their mind about full time wfh or I’ll find someone who will give it to me.

I will say one downside I think hasn’t been seen yet is the loss of the office is the ability to learn new skills and positions.

Learning from a tutorial will never beat hands on training for new skills from someone who knows what they are doing.
Virtual training works. Through Microsoft teams or Zoom.

One-on-one is the superior method but there are viable alternatives.

But let’s be real. Your more likely to get hired by internal referral than by what’s on your resume.

So making lateral moves doing the same thing will be easy. Moving up or to another company would be harder.
