I don't know why so many posters on here or people in general see what obama as saying as if he is looking down on you or trying to appease white people. Like seriously? :wtf: Obama has been everywhere, he has experienced the racism first hand in getting to be the fukking president of the united states. How is what anything that he said untruthful? I would say he is being realist and truthful but it sounds like a lot of you don't want to hear it.

Nothing he said was untrue. My issue is he speaks about black issues but won't touch them with a 10 foot pole. So what about the media would bytch about perceived black provisions, the scale been unbalanced for too long. :pacspit: roll them sleeves up Barry you in your second term already. I can only imagine if he attacked some of Americas racial inequalities with the tenacity as Bush did for the war in Iraq. :blessed:

B4 I go in, let me make a couple things clear. Yes, I acknowledge the first "Black" President and how history was changed. He's a politician and open to criticism.

In America, this system is not made for everyone to win. Some will win, some will lose and that's just the nature of the system. In that system we have class structures - upper middle lower

Instead of celebrating the tremendous progress American Blacks have made year in and year out like this great magazine does EVERY MONTH

More down talk. There are so many Black Americans that graduate from master programs, undergraduate and high school and trade schools every year that we should be proud of our accomplishments. There are so many Black Americans that have progressed in every aspect of life that we should be celebrating that.

I don't buy the numbers and the reports, because I know many Black Americans that never bothered filling out a Census or other government related info for privacy reasons. The issue is we don't have enough MEDIA OUTLETS to portray this to our fellow Black Americans. I see it every day, fortunate enough to have employment where I travel to multiple areas and see Black excellence all across the country. At the same time, I did come up from the inner city and it's no way that I will ever flick my nose/turn my back on that or those conditions NOT EVER but at the same time I will not act like the lower class represents the ENTIRE BLACK AMERICA and can understand that it's just a segment of our population

I'm glad the comment sections from media outlets that covered this are going in.

Michelle Obama say "Don't strive to be athlete or entertainer"? What type of asinine comment? Entertainment and Sports placed so many Black Americans into Middle and Upper Class income brackets, almost more than any other field of business. I want to help create and develop 1,000,000 more FLOYD MAYWEATHER JRS and LEBRON JAMES

That's our STRONGHOLD

develop more Floyds and lebrons??? :dead:

I have to disagree there but I kinda see where you going with it..we don't need that tho. What we need are more entrepreneurs outside of music and sports. People emulating Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. We need more black going into the tech industry and creating start ups.

Having Barack Obama for a President is like having a father coaching a basketball team that his son plays for. The black community is his son. Every practice, every game, the coach is being hard as hell toward his kid, even to the point of giving the other kids on the team preferential treatment because he's scared of people insinuating that there's any type of nepotism for his own child.

i wish somebody with access to him would challenge him on this issue. it's not that i dont agree with him, and i can even ascribe a charitable interpretation of his tendency to do this (looking at stats, he thinks we need to hear this more than anything else), but quite frankly i dont believe it is helpful at all, and he doesnt say any of this tough love to all the other interest groups. i would love to see him address a group of grads at an all female college and warn them about getting drunk with boys they barely know, etc.

and of course allen west seizes on these moments, he knows tapdancing when he sees it since he is a grandmaster at it.

That's a poor comparison. Hillary Clinton could give that speech to the girls at Barnard, Obama couldn't. Certain people have to be the ones to deliver certain messages or it comes across as someone from outside of group feeling they can preach to them. You know that.

This speech needs to be given at a high school graduation, saying this to a bunch of college graduates is like preaching to the choir. Of course they are going to know that nothing is going to be given to them. These aren't under educated and under skilled men asking for an upper management position at a fortune 500. In some instances, depending on the degree, those young men will never have to work as hard as they did when they were in college. Like someone on here said earlier, he should be encouraging business development and not running to the white man as soon as you get the degree and expecting something. They may hire you, but they still will treat the custodians cleaning your cubicle better than they'll treat you.

the thing is, i dont believe this stuff is helping, and though i said i could choose to interpret his tendency to do this in a more charitable way, i actually will not. i think it is cynical. he has about 3 low-grade scandals going on, and now he's choosing to give conservative messages to already high acheiving black people. i dont think his audience was really the people near him. i suspect he is nurturing his sister souljah credentials again, and the act is getting tired.

so really, the point of my grievence with this is not the messenger, it is the message, because i dont want the president saying this, not from him, a white guy, an eskimo, or a transgendered dwarf. his legacy is going to be weak if he doesnt start handling race issues with some courage and honesty. the point is not that he is too much of an outsider to comment on women's issues, but that there is no real beneficial poltical impulse to put women in their place in current american politics. (as various tea party candidates learned in 2012). unfortunately, i think dog whistling, especially when done by democrats (re sister souljah) is still a "thing".

Not to toot my own horn or shyt on anybody but have u nikkas ever graduated...? Let alone frm college? The context of readin his speech on a message board scratching ur unwashed nuts versus hearing it live as a motivational reinforcement after 4-5 years of school finally being over is prolly a big difference.
