A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its power output.
The concept is a thought experiment that attempts to explain how a spacefaring civilization would meet its energy requirements once those requirements exceed what can be generated from the home planet's resources alone.
Only a tiny fraction of a star's energy emissions reaches the surface of any orbiting planet. Building structures encircling a star would enable a civilization to harvest far more energy.

You could take a Dyson Sphere and wrap around stars or even the sun, which yes is also a star.

Freemon Dyson is whom it's named after, he was a theoretical and mathematical physicist.
Dyson speculated that such structures would be the logical consequence of the escalating energy needs of a technological civilization and would be a necessity for its long-term survival. He proposed that searching for such structures could lead to the detection of advanced, intelligent extraterrestrial life. Different types of Dyson spheres and their energy-harvesting ability would correspond to levels of technological advancement on the Kardashev scale.

Imagine if humans made this!

You dont need a FULL one just 1/3 of a dyson sphere is good enough...:dahell:
shyt, building one that is 1% of the surface area of a sphere at half the distance to Mercury is over 32 TRILLION miles. I don't know how far it would need to be to avoid being damaged by the sun, but this would require a shyt ton of material.

Edit: did math wrong

I know...:francis: we need ships that can travel the distance between the sun and earth stupid fast to even make this feasible... Second phtovoltaic panels that are planet sized will have to be built that's gonna be a long minute plus conversion of the energy into next gen batteries will have to be developed...plus the manpower to build something that huge and complex... its a world changing move if someone can pull all of that off:wow:
