im trying to get at the significance of being at the mercy of a government who idolize christopher columbus. and who are in fact just as psychotically insane as columbus was.

my honest question is... what makes any of yall think that one day the beast aint gonna come for you in some form or fashion?

i dont wanna hear your personal feelings about columbus day :childplease:

The government is not totally run by 'White people'. Imagine King Leopold II as PUSA.

We celebrate Christopher Columbus because he brought the shining light of western civilization to the New World. Without Columbus, the Americas would have never known knowledge, human rights, progress, technology, science, natural law, etc.

Not to mention he was one hell of an explorer. The idea of sailing thousands of miles into uncharted waters without celestial navigation, longitude, etc is an act of increible bravery and skill.

Columbus changed the course of human history and deserves to be recognized.

knowledge

The Aztecs had a class of scholars that were comparable to Ancient Greek sophists. This is assuming you mean knowledge as some kind of abstract speculation, since every human being has knowledge of some kind or another.

human rights

Never existed during Columbus's day. But again every human probably has some conception of human rights.

Native societies were definitely not static. Absolute nonsense.

technology

Absolute nonsense. Various native societies had monumental architecture, various methods of agriculture, textile production etc.

Didn't exist when Columbus made contact.

natural law

I honestly don't even know what you mean by this.

I usually don't get riled up for causes like this cause its easy to say its just a holiday...but on this particular one it is kinda sickening to me to celebrate someone like Columbus. Him and other explorers around that time like Cortez are some of the worst human beings I've ever learned about considering the countless millions of deaths they're responsible for and basically the extermination of entire cultures/societies. But now a couple of hundred years later its all good cause he took a wrong turn somewhere in the middle of the ocean. Its at the same level as having a holiday for Hitler 200 years down the road. Hell maybe even worse...Jewish people doing pretty good compared to Aztecs and Mayans

HAPPY GENOCIDE DAY!

"...your Highnesses may believe that this island (Hispaniola), and all the others, are as much yours as Castile. Here there is only wanting a settlement and the order to the people to do what is required. For I, with the force I have under me, which is not large, could march over all these islands without opposition. I have seen only three sailors land, without wishing to do harm, and a multitude of Indians fled before them. They have no arms, and are without warlike instincts; they all go naked, and are so timid that a thousand would not stand before three of our men. So that they are good to be ordered about, to work and sow, and do all that may be necessary, and to build towns, and they should be taught to go about clothed and to adopt our customs."
