How sad is it that companies still lean heavily on Stone Cold and The Rock to sell their WWE product

you cant really say that because who would have thought the ringmaster and rocky mavia would have become what they did? stone cold and the rock were larger than life characters because wwe let them spread their wings and allowed them to be that whereas if they existed in 2020 vince would be too stubborn to let them ever have evolved into what they became

you got guys like montez ford with supernatural charisma and star potential, guys like angel garza, austin theory etc.. not to mention guys we arent even thinking about and who knows what kinda fire gimmick or persona they have in the tuck that could get them over as stars which will never see the light of day because wwe micromanages everything in vince's image
I feel like you just made my point for me lmao.

You know WWE is done when that overrated dweeb Edge got one of the biggest pops in years when he came out for the rumble :mjlol:

Edge was mostly trash I agree but Rated R Superstar Edge was on point but I knew that wouldn’t last. That was when I stopped watching entirely. I caught a little bit of Raw yesterday just randomly and shyt is just pure trash now.

Real shyt tho, WWE couldn’t have an Attitude era style superstar now in 2020.

Nor should they, cause it's 2020 like you said. But legitimate characters transcend any era. The problem is, the WWE doesn't want characters at the forefront, they want the brand at the forefront. That's why nearly every WWE title has that massive W logo surrounded by empty space. That's why the commentators regurgitate WWE and World Wrestling Entertainment to remind people (people that are already watching the product :gucci:) what company they are watching.

I admit I’m way out the loop now but I definitely was on my smark shyt during the Attitude era. On the one hand I can see the dilemma, Vince would just keep losing his superstars to Hollywood. On the other hand, WWE could then be known as a producer of Hollywood action stars. And those stars can still come back from time to time.

Compared to back in the day I have no desire to even get back into it now mainly because the gimmicks look boring and cookie cutter as fukk with Cena being the poster child of that shyt.

That’s why the promos the talent cut sounds like a Wayne’s World product placement ass madlib :dead: “At WWE (insert PPV name here) I’m going to defend my WWE (insert title name here) against you, (insert opponent’s here) in a (insert match type)”

Vince don’t wanna create new stars that might get bigger than WWE so he’s forced to rely on bringing back legends/using them for promotion :yeshrug:
