According to the comcast forums, one employee and wikipedia shows are at most broadcast in 1080i. So they're usually 720p or 1080i.

With the exception of on-demand programming which can sometimes be broadcast at 1080p. Apparently, they cite cost as the the reason that live streaming of 1080p signals hasn't been adopted yet.

Been binging on some orange is the new black, and wanted to spread them out, so I started back up with house of cards since I only made it 4 episodes in.

but I'm noticing that this shyt is crystal clear. I mean clearer than anything I watch on cable. and as clear as the games on ps4.

so how netflix gonna give me better HD resolution content than cable?

If netflix could only strike a deal with the NBA/NFL, I could go with them for all my viewing needs.

then it hit me. if 4K is really gonna be something viable, netflix could be an option for releasing 4K content. hell, they are already doing some 3D content.
That Netflix stream is compressed to high hell and will still murder your bandwidth if you stream constantly. Cable companies have hundreds of channels Netflix is a single heavily compressed stream.

cost of what? comcast owns the network and the infrastructure. they can broadcast any resolution they want.

Haha I was just updating my post to say that.

My edit was "Anyone who has ever looked at their cable bill has to be suspicious of infrastructure and cost issues because they typically find a way to pass it off to the consumer."

Here's one of the references from wiki:
https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/techreports/tr014.pdf

I'm still a bit confused about the whole thing.

the cost of bandwidth. 1080p would double the bandwidth for what the cable company uses for video overnight. the bandwidth the FCC allows them to use is limited. they're only licensed to use certain frequencies.

Wherever whores go.....
Most newer shows are recorded in 4K then compressed down for cable
Yea cable is just outdated at everything at the moment but let's not act like netflix is a one stop solution :usure:

Netflix just sends you on show at a time not multiple shows

It's much easier for them

this is why i download everything

i noticed like 2 years ago rips i download looked way better than Comcasts HD feed

now that they are releasing 1080p web dl rips for damn near every show i dont even watch tv unless is football and occasionally basketball

netflix used to have that struggleHD too but they stepped it up a couple years ago

This is true to what I do...i only watch wrestling, football, women's tennis, and football majority of the year. Everything else I download.

I usually watch netflix on my PS3. I also have 2 roku boxes, but I rarely watch netflix on them. I'm referring to netflix on the PS3. I haven't watched much netflix on the PS4 to comment on the resolution.
