Conservatives push this narrative and they also say illegal immigration was way lower when trump was in office. Is any of this true
Nothing. Gas was cheaper due to the pandemic. Folks were literally stuck at home and couldn't go travel or fly or even go to their favorite restaurant.

Pandemic backs off? More fuel purchased. Supply gets tested.

shyt is textbook supply and demand.

As much as Obama did in early 2015 crazy cheap prices, nothing.

There is literally nothing a president can do about this issue tbh

Exxon just posted a record for profits. They charge as much as we will pay.

This. Every idiot with an opinion is gonna talk about inflation like its some imaginary thing. If prices of everything went up for EVERYONE then how the fukk are so many big companies posting all-time high profits?

Duh, they are gouging because they can. Also, Ive heard this shyt and shrugged it off, but the idea that businesses are also well aware that squeezing consumers makes the party in charge look bad doesn’t sound too far fetched. Pump the prices, get some seats flipped, pretend past policies caused price increases. There isnt a policy in play that made the entire world experience record inflation in all industries :beli: This is Russias fault for starting a war (which is exacerbating famine around the globe) and big corps getting all they can to make up for 2020-2021 losses.

The only impact that Trump had on anything is that the 1% loved him, he made them exponentially richer, as did the pandemic. Trump went cheat code on everything, got rid of any and all regulations, and made the Fed pull all the levers that they normally wouldn’t wouldn’t, because the kind of measures he had them take are reserved for when we are are going through a recession, and the economy needs a boost. He did that when we just got over the 2008 crisis, and he inherited a really good economy. He did that to make it look like he was the reason everything was good, for re-election, because he knew this was going to happen, but he would never have to get elected again, so it wouldn’t matter. His whole thing would have been “I gave you the greatest economy, but the Dems, and illegals are trying to destroy the country, brick by brick”. It was a good plan, because 65% of this country are politically ignorant, and have low financial iq. I wish Biden had the “I don’t give a fukk what anybody thinks” mentality that Trump has, if he did, he would actually attempt to do something. Have someone go and threaten Manchin fr, do 5 EO’s a day, tell Big Gas/Oil to get in line, call these corporations out on live tv, so many things he could do, he is 100 yo, if he doesn’t start applying real pressure, he will die with the legacy of Bernie Lomax.
Op, this perfectly sums up what's going on.

Presidents don't control gas prices.

One day in the far off future there will be an analysis of how gulliable the American public was to falling for right wing narratives. Not criticizing you OP just saying this in general.

Far off in the future? :skip:

There are literally studies all the time on the topic.

How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
Or grocery prices. Gas prices are high across the globe right now. Inflation is worse in the UK than the US right now. Even if you argue the covid bill from last year super charged the economy, the bigger issue remains that supply/demand is still fukked from covid. On one hand you have Americans spending money at extremely high levels, on the other hand you have supply chains and businesses struggling to meet demand. This won't be solved anytime soon either.
Well at least in the uk you don’t have to go homeless over a unexpected medical emergency. Add the fact that there are so many guns in the us, political division at a feverish pitch, inflation, investment firms buying up all the real estate, private medicine, it’s just a huge recipe for civil unrest.

Mark Cuban explains how it was actually Trump who raised gas prices

@Sjacobs2020
In 2020, Trump bragged nonstop that he negotiated with Russia, OPEC, Mexico and U.S. oil companies to cut 20 million barrels a day.

TrumpFlation started in January 2021 as the vaxx (1st shots December) & Trump reopened everything rapidly. Trump had flooded the economy with stimulus money but had no plan in place to stimulate supply to meet demand. Bringing factories, especially oil refineries, back online takes time. Especially with a broken supply chain.

Biden, on the other hand, flooded the oil markets with supply and brought down oil/gas prices, decreasing TrumpFlation.

The second video, on how Biden broke OPEC, is worth the 7 minutes.

@Fuzzy_Fuzzbutt
Trump wanted cuts of up to 20 million barrels of oil a day for 2 years, but the final agreement was to cut 10 million barrel a day from Apr 2020 to Apr 2022. That is 233.6 billion gallons worth of gasoline and fuel oil removed from the world's supply. It was "GREAT" for Putin.

How was it great for Putin? Be specific
