If rappers speak out the conversation becomes about their music and not the real issues

It takes accountability to grow up.

You actually have to put effort into being a righteous person.

Do realize that all these rappers are 30+ years old. Think about how ridiculous they look and act as fathers and leaders of families.

Breh, you hit the nail on the head with this one. This is the single most irritating thing about rappers that be on that "why should I give back to the hood?"

"It's like :dwillhuh::snoop::mindblown: did you ever stop to think that somebody with your level of influence said the same thing 30 years ago? Do you remember what the result of that was? It's all the 'I had to rob cause the government left me for dead' talk that made you a millionaire. Why are you nikkas okay seeing another generation of you come into the world?"
Very few rappers say fukk giving back to the hood. I think that's an argument in search of a problem. They don't do as much as they could, but very few say some shyt like that. The problem with this thread is that (a) people on here don't realize that everyone on here doesn't think like them or feel the need to move when you want them and may address things when and where they choose to (b) people on here magnify the impact hip hop has as a mobilizing tool and refer back to this mythical image of 2Pac as the guy who would've united everyone, (c) people who criticize hip hop for buffoonery now expect those same people to be their heroes...which is odd (d) people are creating this false reality where speaking out right now = real and not speaking out = fake.

I saw someone mention Kanye West and that reminded me of WTT, "This to the memory of Danroy Henry, too many stray shots to be catching friendlies..." Jay Z hadn't said a word before but rapped about it later. I hadn't heard about the issue at all prior to that. The point is, while many people in here mean well, you're making the mistake of assuming most people with a conscience subscribe to your singular perspective of how and when to react to these events. Somehow instead of focusing our attention on the tragedy at hand, we found a way to point the finger at other black people. This issue should not be, and is not a indictment on hip hop.

musicians aren't supposed to be your leaders, best thing they can do is bring attention to a cause and to the people who are capable of really leading the cause.

Fukk Iraq nicca, hoeass country ran by spineless fakkits and "protected" by more spineless fakkits. ISIS got tanks because of spineless fakkitry

I'm just using Iraq as an example of something where action is being taken and not just empty talk on twitter

This generation (and by generation i mean everybody living, not just the teens or 20 somethings that people love to blame) is truly lost. Who gives a fukk about a tweet? Not a single exec cares about these guys voicing support for this issue. Get a grip.

What we're experiencing is a crisis in leadership. These guys have no clue what to do. There's no Malcom or Martin to really blaze the path with a clear vision and clear path to change.

I don't care about random 'fukk the police' or 'we're all ******s' or 'stop killing us' outburst.... that shyt accomplishes nothing.

A big reason rap has fell off is because it no longer speaks for or is an representation of the people nor the struggle. We had Gil Scott-Heron singing about the revolution not being televised, and pleading the save the children. Got Bob Marley singing out getting up and standing up. Where's OUR musical, cultural leaders? This is more proof that hip hop has FAILED black America. fukk hip hop.

I'm Hard Like D-Block Readin The Book Of Enoch...
only underground emcees will speak out because they don't have corporate strings in their back..if you hear something regarding any of these situations from a major label rapper it will only be because they're trying to further incite any potential flare up/false flag..

fukk relying on any one man/entertainer though,go do your own research,if you're accepting what any network/corporate talking heads tell you as truth then you're already lost, unless you're an agent/eating well off this agenda, which thy already know some of you are:youngsabo:

i'm going out and getting zoned afore thee country implodes,to all my real souljahs/thinkers/people of Allah be safe out there...:myman:

Thats when music and entertainers were unified towards a common enemy: cacs. Now the common enemy is other blacks. Rappers so insecure and bytchmade and fatherless that everything they rap and sing about is taking a bytch and having the ability to shop and take other males and females to the mall. Then the other rappers rap and sing about taking bytches from dudes and 100 different ways to push dope and kill other nikkas, all of which have been tired since the early 90s. They wouldnt look a cac in the eye if the cac smacked they own mama. They selling their souls to these jews and fags and so desperate for cash that they will never want to make white daddy feel uncomfy. Shout out to Jeezy, Killa Mike, and the handful of other rappers and entertainers who still have some nuts to speak they mind.
