I'm glad im not the only one offended by Noisy and their Nat Geo like videos on black culture.

The Chicago/Drill one is worse than the Atlanta one.

Matter fact Vice the ones that got Chief Keef put back in jail cause they had him shooting guns at gun range while he was on probation :snoop:

:snoop:

Migos don't play that shyt anymore

"Were those real guns you were shooting?"

"That was a set. That was scripted. Those weren't real. :sas2:"

I actually want to go on record with @1984 and say I'm down to help start a Blog.

It's honestly not as hard as people are making it out to be, as long as people are realistic.

We would not be on the level of a Noisy, Fader, or Stereogum instantly. But just having a place where writers of color have a voice is a STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

It could even be Tumblr based initially. With Reviews, Think pieces, Interviews, Maybe a Podcast.

I actually hosted and produced a music video show in high school. Even though it was Public Access TV I still ended up interviewing DMX, Eve and the rest of the Ruff Ryder camp (Lox, Swiss,PK) and Cash Money ( Baby, Juvie,Manny, And a SUPER young lil Wayne.

I say all that to say shyt AIN'T IMPOSSIBLE and we can talk all day, but WHAT ARE WE ACTUALLY DOING?

People get too caught up in being BIG TIME, they don't wanna start from scratch and put in work.

I'm down, too. And I have a journalism degree.

I am sure there was a VICE documentary or mini doc on Atlanta, and they were talking to Migos, and Pee Wee Longway, some other dudes....The interviewer was some really white, soft and nerdy looking guy, and he was very out of his place and depth, you would think he was talking about a sub species, the way he phrased his questions....It was really kind of embarrassing, very exploitative.....Thats how most of these publications, esp. the 'edgier' ones, despite some of their redeeming qualities see the streets, rap music, etc etc....I did like the Obabma/mandatory minimum sentencing documentary they did.

Thats why I respect the guys over a DEHH.....I might not always agree with them, but they went out and created a platform for themselves to speak on hip-hop thats become very popular on youtube and its ran/owned by blacks. No exploitation, no agendas, no funny style shyt. The shyt can be done. I don't really have much experience at writing/reviewing music professionally but I bet I can do a better job than most of the cacs over at the white publications. I doubt they listen to as much hip-hop/r&b as most of us here. There's free websites/blogs out there like wix.com that can be used. I'm sure theres others. I'm gonna do some brainstorming and see if I can come up with anymore ideas to add and pass along.

I respect them to but I'd take most white people over that Oreo who looks like Young Thugs father. I use pitchfork a lot, but mostly for other genres. Unless it's to view a hiphop albums reception in relation to other genres. If I'm looking for some opinions on a standalone hiphop album I'd rather check what my friends are saying, people on here except the usual stans/haters, hiphopdx, DEHH, other rappers etc. And if it's a respected hiphop reviewer freelancing for one of the alternative magazines I might check his opinion to, other than that i'll just check the rating as a benchmark. I don't know about the rest though.

What people don't get is that these magazines like Pitchfork, if you have 4 writers of 24, that's 1/6. And I guess that hiphop and RnB is less than 1/6 of the shyt they review. Like 80 % rock/folk and its 100 sub generes, indie pop and its 100 sub genres and electronic music and its 100... Then 20 % hiphop, rnb, jazz, commercial pop, soul etc. So it makes sense, if we're breaking down race of writer to race of musician that's reviewed.

I have 1500 followers Mostly who are black so I figured it give it a shot to try and recruit some people for your goal. I hope this doesn't come across as me being some sort of white savior. If so, I'll fall back.

Edit: do you have an email I can direct people to?

To be honest I'd rather Vice keep Eddie Huang to do documentaries on black communities and sample the food if they're squeamish about black journalist. He actually gave a shyt.

thats a damn shame
but lets be real most of us are fascinated with hip hop for the wrong purposes..these cacs actually make it their job
By "most of us" you mean you and fellow white people, right? Most nikkas are fascinated with hip hop because we are hip hop culture. You, the white boys that dapped your post, and these lame ass writers for these hip hop publications are the ones who listen for the wrong reason
