I experience pain every time a white South African - at the shop; in a bar; on the Talk Radio 702 or online forums - says that “We need to forget the past, get over it.” ... Whites fail to acknowledge our pain and suffering - and their position as beneficiaries of our pain.

..the truth, the whole truth..and nothing but the truth...a serious crime has been committed against blackness on a global scale and people think blacks shouldnt demand justice,,and we should 'get over it'..'grow up'..and 'forget the past'...

so you think it would have been better to have a civil war?

So there was a civil war after the Nuremberg trials? After the end of slavery? After the nationalization of Cuba? It's a myth perpetuated to justify Mandela negotiating a horrible deal for black people. What evidence is there that a war would have broken out if he didn't privatize the Reserve Bank?

He didn't attend to policies that blatantly maintained white minority economic dominance. Share the opportunity and resources (the majority of land is owned by whites yet only 15% is used for food production).

No, because he got rid of the system that upheld white supremacy but not the economic and social injustice. How is it that the same families ruling during apartheid are the ones in control of the powerhouses in S.A?

its not like you have to ask what would have happened if the government would have forced the white elites out, and taken the resources into its own hand, all you have to do look at is zimbabwe

the reason black were poor was because lack of education, that hasnt changed, it would take a couple of generations to bring the general black population to the same educational level as whites, i think anybody that thought there would a a huge transfer of wealth in a few years is just naive and anybody thinks that taking money from elites will lead to prosperity is also naive, i think mandela made the best decision he could make

I'm not for kicking any group out because of their skin color, that would be foolish. But, if you read the article, you will find that there are many reasons to why the racial hierarchy is the same.

One of the most revealing aspects of the economic transition was the ownership of the Reserve Bank of South Africa. Arguably the most powerful institution in the country, its fate was explained by Durban businessman Vishnu Padaychee; asked to draft a document for the negotiating team on the on the pro’s and con’s of having an autonomous central bank, run with total autonomy from the elected government. Padayachee could not believe what he was hearing. He and his team drafted and submitted the document with a clear policy of not allowing the Reserve Bank to be autonomous.

Could you imagine if the U.S. FED was owned by private stockholders? Do you know how fast the american economy would fall apart? You already know about the corporate greed, imagine if they could both control the market through monetary policies and their own investments. All the loosening/tightening policies will make our heads spin. Repeatedly increasing inflation (by lowering interest rates) to cause an asset bubble by all the people borrowing money. Sell them houses and then tighten it up, assets lose value and companies make a quick buck. Over and over until the whole economy collapses.

:russ: It seems like the only argument you have in every thread about racial injustice is that black people need education. No shyt, of course they need to be educated but S.A. is like any other country, your economic situation determines what you are capable of doing. If you have to stay on the farm and take care of the cattle since your parents are too old to go out 5AM then that's what you do. You have no time to go out and work a part time job while you are finishing high school and then pay a large amount to apply to schools that are located 50-60 miles from your house. Don't even let me get into the S.A.'s tuition costs and cost of living around the campuses.

No, black people will not be more educated generations from now because the scenario I gave you before will repeat itself generation to generation. There will never be a rise in the african middle class since it is not allowed socially, economically, or politically because of the structural injustice.

yeah that is correct that my argument in every thread about racial injustice is that black people need more education, because that is the fundamental problem, racial injustice is the outcome of black people being uneducated and lacking technical knowledge and coming into contact with white racists with education and technical knowledge

in the western world wealth is mostly abstract and its not really possible to transfer wealth, as defined in the western sense, to an uneducated population and i think that applies to the US and south africa

Zimbabwe collapsed in large part due to government kleptocracy and western sanctions which created mass inflation. The land reforms were a big part of it but it was really not as simple as "Zimbabwe - white farmers = collapse".
