Big 12 stopped because the divisions are no more in the conference. i think they ended the divisions last year
nope stopped 2010 after nebraska and colorado left for the big ten and pac 12, NCAA rules required that a conference have twelve members in order to stage a football championship game

Check Rivals SEC stans are already saying it would be unfair for a one loss SEC team to not be in the MNC game. Mark May is saying Bama is "by far" the best one loss team in America I'm not too sure about that.
