Depends on the genre. I took almost 10 hours before Persona clicked with me. At first when I played Persona 3 I wasn't feeling it and almost ignored Persona 4 until I tried that game and fell in love.

Simple, short games need to grab me immediately like platformers or some indie games.

AAA games a few hours at most. Heck, Uncharted 4 took almost till chapter 10 to really start clicking.

if a game isn’t grabbing you, how long does it usually take before you delete it off your hard drive?
I think the decision is made once the exclusive platform is announced :francis:

I could give examples with receipts like I always do. But I'll just reference them for now.

@Fatboi1 was like Knack my nikka? Let us pray..... Thank you Lord for such a magnificent game!!!(I think you too)
@GoldenGlove was convinced Killzone SF was the shiznite on some drop some theme music right now shyt

@Rekkapryde ran a league for MLB The Show and all the Sony Stans was like "You know, Baseball is so needed. It's the purest sport you know"

I know y'all nikkaz full of shyt. And you decided if a game is good or trash based on everything BUT THE GAMEPLAY.
Grounded was straight up laughed at, so was sea of thieves. We know how that turned out :smugbiden:

The truth is based on how society goes, the attention spans have shrunk and most ppl will abandon a game if it isn't instantly gratifying.
We don't have time to develop the skill to master games anymore. As a kid I didn't have a choice. Master the game or don't play anything new any time soon. Not all games are meant to be mastered in a day :manny:

About 10 to 40 minutes. If I have that I would never replay this game feeling , it gets shelved.

My Set
I typically lie to myself for months like "yeah ima keep it around and play it" then i just never play it. Typically happens to my solo player games. I ain't by a solo player since last year tho. I got halfway through Robocop and got bored. I tried high on life and got bored. That rick and morty humor couldnt carry the game for me. I tried hifi rush, that shyt was cheeks. Im really a multiple player game kinda guy. If im not gaming with the homies or shytting on randoms online im not having fun these days. If I was a kid I'd probably play these solo games and have a blast but im not a child. Im an adult with options.

... i lasted less than 10 minutes with this one . . . .

This is one i threw in the bushes after like a half hour. The music is good but its way too involved for whats essentially a simple ass on rails rhythm game

this happens wiht me a lot with indie games because they always get super gassed up by the hipster gamers and then you play them and they’re mad simple or janky.

thats why i mostly stick to buying them discounted

Myself and my own.
Depends on the genre and how well it runs on my rig (PC games namely). Overall it's how I feel playing it. If I'm unhappy with it less than one level in, then I ditch it. If I am having mixed feelings about it, I put it away after a little bit and sleep on it. If my desire to play is low later on then I know it's not worth my time overall.

Since I mainly play fighting games I'll ditch a game if I feel like I'm reaching my ceiling but my ceiling is low in terms of the game. Then that game is not for me. This happened with KOF15 and MVCI.

I'll give most games several hours (5-20+) typically of play before putting it down, tho not even due to not liking the game. It's actually rare that I bush a game completely just off of not liking it, as by now, I know my tastes enough to know if I'll like a game before I buy or download it for free. I do often sideline a game for an indefinite amount of time before getting back to it or leave some never finished. It's usually just cuz other games take my interest more than the game itself. I've also made my peace with getting enough value out of games without having to complete everything I play in their entirety age won't feel any regret about them usually.

However, there two games in the past 25 years that I bought with initial enthusiasm for them only to realize less than like 15-30 minutes that they were absolutely not for me at all and I refunded or resold immediately. Those two games are Rockstar's State of Emergency and Shenmue 3.
