if a game isn’t grabbing you, how long does it usually take before you delete it off your hard drive?

generally no more than 10-15 minutes
I would prefer a demo, but you know rare, those things are today. But I would generally go on YouTube and watch a playthrough (preferably black youtuber - Itsreal, he’s horrible but makes it entertaining) and then I would see if I like it enough to purchase it.

Depends on the genre but 1-2 hours or more.
Man I put down games I fw for days on accident nowadays, and never get back to em. A game I’m not immediately fw don’t even got a chance. Probably an hr or two if it’s something I wanna like, otherwise like 30 min

1 hour - racing, platformers, sports, fighting any jump in and play type game
2 hours - shooters
2-4 hours - most action story games like ghost tsushima, Spiderman
5-10 hours - lengthy rpgs Witcher, elden ring, etc. these often pick up slowly with the best parts being like 20-80 hours in

damn, i feel like for me its an hour maybe 2 for most games. Feels like there’s too much choice and not enough time to really stick with shyt now.
there’s osme games i said i would love to finish like the outer wilds but i just can’t bring myself to do it, its so boring.

Unless you get it for free or really cheap you're gonna try and give it a fair chance. That's why the games i passionately do not like and talk shyt about can't nobody checking me cuz I played enough to know the core gameplay loop is ass for my tastes.
And there is a lot of choice but there's a lot less blind buys now. When you get a game you mostly know if it's gonna be your tastes these days.

Tbh nowadays I have a good idea what genres I like. JRPGs & Strategy (Both RTS & TBS). Unless it is something noticeable bad about the game itself in which I would dip.

Worst case scenario, I put it down but wifey ends up playing it and loving it.
Most recent was NCAA 2025. Not a bad game but playing all these big azz open world games (Elden Ring, Elder Scrolls, Horizon, Witcher, GTA, AC Shadows etc) and even more linear entertaining games like the Hitman series.....sports games just don't hit the same anymore. Same thing with fighting games.
