Breh, other Latin American socialist leaders are laughing at Chavez. He has become a joke. He started out with a lot of promise and ended up a mediocre, authoritarian despot. The Left (the real Left, not moderates and liberals down there) doesn't unconditionally support him any more.

Bring their names forward....or otherwise you are just blowing smoke.

Who cares if other leaders are laughing? Point is after nearly 15 years in power he has completely failed to improve the country in social, economic, democratic and humanitarian terms like he said he would, and made a number of these areas worse. Caracas is still one of the most violent cities in the world, Venezuela is still one of the most corrupt countries in the world and Chavez has still spend the past decade increasing his own power and destroying Venezuelan democracy in the process. He is nothing more then a authoritarian populist who is effective at getting the disenfranchised and various 'useful idiots' (see this thread) on his side. If he didn't spend his time attacking the 'Evil Empire' no one would defend his atrocious record.

Exactly. He's become a caricature. At this point, he's toxic to the left because of his visibility and the fact that people associate him with and want to make him one of the public faces of the global Left.

Breh, as a Leftist myself, I wish he was lying. I really do. But he isn't. I'll try and post some concrete info on this later when I have time.

So in 15 years Chavez has done absolutely nothing to improve venezuela socially or economically??

I'll admit there are plenty of things that he could do differently and a lot of things he has done wrong but to say he has done nothing for his people is laughable.

Blowing smoke still? :snooze:

Ironic, coming from a conspiracy theorist. Many of the views you hold are also antithetical to Leftism.

Anyway, like I said, I'll post more info when I have the time. Don't come at me with 3 replies in 10 minutes saying the same thing and expecting an answer.

no-one else going to pointing out the bollocks in this fascist trying to appear "centre-left" like lula?

Lula should stay out of Venezuela’s election | The A-List
In his televised address Lula said, “Only thanks to [Hugo] Chavez’s leadership, the people have had extraordinary achievements. The poor were never treated with such respect, affection and dignity. These achievements should be preserved and consolidated. Chavez, count on me, count on the PT, count on the solidarity and support of every leftist militant, every democrat and every Latin American. Your victory is our victory. ”

Lula, South America and Socialists worldwide stand with Chavez.
