For me...
It put me in the position to meet a lot of the OGs that taught me important lessons in life. If it wasn't for lifting I would have probably been doing some stupid shyt that a lot of naïve young dudes have done.

What about yall tho?

Helped my self-esteem and confidence (never dangerously low, but upped it a lot).
People actually respect me and the odd time, I totally catch women looking like :takedat:.

Gave me a hobby that made life more enjoyable and one I didn't suck at, progress is very measurable. You hear so many people say once you start the 9-5 your life becomes a :scust:daily grind. But I find when you have a hobby and something to look forward to every day, the grind doesn't become so bad. At least not yet :sadcam:

Haven't been at it as long as you guys but it's helped me find out a lot of things about myself. They say idle mind is the devils play time and I had a lot of free time to think of doing a lot of dumb things. Now I'm just reading about exercise and nutrition almost everyday constantly. I'm becoming obsessed with it. Everyday I'm done lifting, I want it to be the next day so I can lift again. I have plans for my body three years in advance and so many different things I want to try with myself. I spend a lot of time alone or with my kids but when I'm throwing weight around I don't feel so isolated, I'm just thinking about getting stronger.

Where do I begin? :wow:

It gave me a lot of mental grit that people who don't work out lack. The same grit I use to get through all my sets also helps me at work and other things where it's important to achieve.

It's humbling because you're exposing yourself to a form of adversity. Keeps your ego in check, even tho most people view lifters as egotistical types.

People also respect you more, be it conscious or subconscious

Good thread :ehh:

A few years ago I had a bunch of losses in the family, so I was lowkey depressed and began to eat extremely unhealthy. I would eat popeyes and mcdonalds for lunch and dinner everyday :scust:. Til one day I went to my doctor and she told me my blood pressure and cholesterol were so high and that if I continue to eat this way, I would have a heart attack before age 30 :mjcry:

Since that day brehs, ive been working out :wow: I lost weight and began feeling a lot better about myself. Got more attention from women and the caliber of women I was pulling got better :takedat:.

Overall I would say, lifting helped me with:
My confidence
Reduce stress levels. Anytime a broad pisses me off or puts me through some crazy shyt I workout even more and make myself feel better
Always gives me something to look forward to during bad times
Met a lot of brehs at my gym who are cool and I can now consider them real friends

I was fukked with a lot growing up was pretty much the only white kid in an all black school for a long time...I'll freely admit to getting jumped more than a few times...getting bullied a lot fukked with my head a long time...I got into more fights the bigger I got at first cuz I was just defensive as fukk and ready to fight always

Not saying just lifting changed everything but becoming a healthy stronger person overall made me more confident and less defensive

I rarely get anybody looking at me crossed eyed anymore and now I have the ability to just smile anyways and keep it moving cuz I no longer feel the need to prove shyt

It helped me change my whole lifestyle. Used to smoke and especially drink very hard, ate like shyt and really wasnt fit at all and I'm very young too. Used to get wasted & shyt every weekend with tons of bad experiences & shyt. Then somehow i finally realized that this shyt can't be good for me anymore, so first i started changing up my eating habits a bit, cutting back on drinking and began lifting here and there at the same time. Last year in march i quit smoking cigarettes, and on may 1 that last year i drank alcohol for the last time until now and I can seriously say i quit that shyt for good. Since May 1st I also totally changed up my eating, began to workout seriously and lost a ton of body fat while also gaining a serious amount of muscles. From this day on lifting has been essential for me and the progress is still great :wow:
