Terry McMillan was the author of the novel the film was based on. She was one of the 2 writers of the screenplay and one of the 3 executive producers for the film.

Terry and the Black people in the cast/crew who had the clout to object/challenge the script were just there to collect a paycheck. Like I said earlier, since that project when I hear any of them make comments about "racism in Hollywood", I have to laugh.
