I'm fully convinced that tony sirico really was paulie in real life. btw, I realized recently that he was in goodfellas when I watched it again for the 100th time last week.

He was a gangster in real life, did a lot of Jail, one of the families wanted to make him but he told them with all due respect , I ain't good at taking orders

As to the ending, I think the Walden character (who took out Phil) was definitely a rising star in the family, I reckon he would of become boss eventually imo , look at who else was left, Paulie who could never be number 1, Benny, Patsy, Paulie Jnr and a bunch of second stringers

also in the first dream in funhouse, Paulie is the one who hands Tony the lighter when he's going to kill himself. The rest of the dreams in that episode are about Tony confirming his suspicions/affirming intuitions he had about untrustworthy people in his crew

Also in one of the fever dreams, Furio hands tony a roll of toilet paper, two meanings, your gonna be cleaning a mess up one day of my making, and having the shyts from food poisoning

Tony didnt even trust Paulie with the Phil Leotardo hit, Sil told him that NY been reaching out to management sending feelers, Tony knew if anyone would betray him within in his leadership it would be Paulie, so he allowed Bobby to be in charge of the Phil hit, to Paulie's dismay as he appeared pissed off.....Once again his intuition was showing about Paulie...but as in the test dream, Tony know what time it was yet he was unable to get the job done

That's not how it happened. Paulie was in charge of the hit, which is why he had the sit down with Bobby and Sil. Bobby just had to tell Paulie what to tell the guys they outsourced. By that season Tony was outsourcing all mob related hits to cousins from Italy. Paulie was upset that they were going to war, not that bobby was part of the hit.

I think your point is valid about Tony needing to kill Paulie, but you're off by a few seasons. The whole Paulie fall out started when Paulie got out of jail. And the reason Tony wanted to kill Paulie is because Tony was frustrated and angry and wanted to vent. He wanted an excuse to kill Paulie.
