You don't need "fundamentals" to be a good/great rebounder either. You didn't see Dennis Rodman or Charles Barkley boxing anybody out. They were about going to get that rock.

A lot of it is effort, timing and having the right position. But some people (like Rodman) have the innate ability to know where the ball will land off of a miss and Love seems to have this trait too.

If you watch Noah and Varejao they get into position as soon as the shooter releases the ball. Makes it almost impossible to out-rebound them.
