How does Romney get away with contradicting himself constantly?

Obama is running against himself for the most part. He will either win this or lose this on his own. Mitt is Mitt and will not have any policies or programs or plans. He is just basically the guy who isn't Obama.

Two reasons -

1. I'm not really sure why, but Democrats (and most liberals in positions of power) seem to inherently be puzzies. They're too busy being scared that FOX news will say something bad about them to ever call out Republicans on anything. Obama is a prime example of this.

2. The Republican base is too busy blindly hating Obama to pay much attention to Romney. The GOP could just pick a name from a phonebook and stick an "R" next to it and the base would support whoever it was just for not being Obama. These are people that honestly think Obama is a Muslim/Socialist/Marxist that wants to destroy America. I've listed to right-wing talk radio and they literally think Obama is the 2nd coming of Hitler.

I agree with the 2nd part.

The 1st part is more because of the spin that the right-wing media puts on things, particularly things involving Obama and the left.

There's really no need to put much of a spin on what the right does. Most of it is racist, sexist, homophobic, and class warfare. The Dems would prefer the right just lets it all out in the open. The problem is the American people are'nt very bright and would rather be told what to think than to think for themselves.

romney is white. obama is black. nothing else matters. to romney/ryan supporters, getting obama out of the office -- and, ultimately, ending any kind of "assistance" to black america -- is the #1 priority.

I think what he means is that when a public figure lies to the public, they are generally called out on it and judged. The general populace doesn't like being lied to and they will generally behave very abrasive to people who are seen as blatant liars.

For example (and NO I'm not comparing him to a child molester use your head people) when Sandusky was accused of being a kid toucher, the public sloshed around their drink in their hands for a bit and then when the mountain of evidence was presented it was like ok dude stop it you're a fukking kid toucher and you need to be sent to prison.

With Romney there are a number of falsified statements, flip flops, position changes, yet certain polls are STILL in favor of this man, running for the highest position in this country.

I don't think there's anyone (I mean I'm sure there's like a handful of close friends or morons) that think Sandusky is innocent, but there is an alarming and if the polls are to be believed, an increasing number of people who despite the clear evidence, STILL support Romney in his current endeavors.

it seems a lot of people are willing to accept that politicians lie. there's also various other factors. I mean lets face it, the majority of voters had their mind made up a long time ago. some people follow party lines. some people honestly don't like the black guy. and the race issue leads to a lot of other subtle unconscious stuff. you don't have to look further than this message board to find people saying things like "Obama embarrassed black people in the debate"
