I personally have not watched a male tennis match in years, not since the sampras/agassi era atleast.

Well, it's an individual sport for starter, so it's easier for the players to be noticed and endorsed.

I also think it's women's favorite sport.

Tennis players are probably the most recognizable athletes there are. Only 2-4 on a court at a time, men and women watch, and you constantly see their faces which makes them good money for advertisers. Combine that with the fact that it's a global sport on top of Roger being a legendary figure with a clean image and you have dollars.

exactly

cats like Fed Dog also endorse stuff bigger than athletic apparel. Fed was the face of a Gillette worldwide marketing campaign. He endorses Mercedes Benz, Rolex, and a bunch of other stuff as well. That money is a lot longer than what nike and gatorade gives and its usually a world wide deal. Fed, Nadal, Djokavic, The Williams, Sharapova, etc play matches on every continent and in 30-40 different countries

This is probably the correct answer...just not enough dollars to go around in a league of superstars.

Makes sense.

Shocking thing is how long Ronaldo is.

That's what I was thinking. He's loved by women and some guys, but he's also thought of as arrogant and not loved by many so his image is also keeping him down. Don't know who the cricket player is, but he must be a rockstar in India.

As far as tennis goes. Roger and Rafa are living legends. They get respect everywhere.
