I personally would have my child home schooled or in a private school. I mean, trust the government to educate my child? I dont think so. If i couldve gone back in time, i'd slap my parents for putting me in the hands of the oakland school district (one of the worst school districts in Cali). Theres not only the lack in education, but also the dangers of it from all the shootings thats been going on and negative influences/peer pressure these kids have to deal with. fukk all that. Maybe i'm just being negative and paranoid here :manny:

We put our kids in a private Catholic school because the education is head and shoulders above the public school here.
I just hope they don't get too brainwashed with all the religious bullshyt.

it's gonna happen seeing as to they will be forced to go to religion classes, mass, and shown a different point of view

my kids will be going through one of the best public schools in the nation :manny: i'm good

and :pachaha: @ anyone thinking private schooling saves kids from sex, drugs and trouble. i went to college w a vast array of privately schooled kids from the top tier schools and they're all equally wild and fukked up if not more than public school kids.

They will be raised with my view as well (see sig). Hopefully they will have no choice but to go with the right point of view.

whether it's public or private the quality of the school and the area surrounding the school is more important. problem is money. many people can't afford private school or they can't afford to live in a area with good public schools. magnet schools or charter schools are another option.

personally i think a good public or private school is better than home schooling alone. home schooling can be done in conjunction with either, but the socialization experience and access to group or team activities is very important. most of the people i've met who were home schooled were socially challenged.

Private schools are actually worse when it comes to the sex, drugs, drinking etc.

Kids with money like to do dumb shyt, picture the OC. but worse, that's what my school was like. My graduating class was 58 people, I was one of 4 that wasn't Caucasian.

major props and respect to this dude and his parents. looks like they did a good job with him and he also did his part to excel. :salute:

never said home schooled kids couldn't be smart, just mentioned some of the ones i met were socially challenged since they don't get the similar socialization experience. this kid seems well adjusted though, but this is an interview taken after he's gone through the college experience. wonder what he was like when he first started at 14....

Private school, but strictly because of the smaller class sizes and possible networking opportunities for them when applying to college. It's unfortunate, but I know a lot if people simply think sending their child to private school is going to tether them away the lewd activities teenagers and kids in public school participate in. They're either naive or never actually attended a private school - either way, they're in for a rude awakening.

Don't let the dress shirts, ties and khakis fool you. I did years of schooling in both, and I can honestly say the private school kids are simply more subtle; they have more freedom, usually more money and access to things other kids don't have, and they''re already presumed innocent, especially at the Catholic/Methodist schools. There was a kid selling ecstasy across from his locker every few days. Sex was being had on campus and kids were skipping their asses off. For the most part sending your kid to private school gives them more hands on attention with the instructors. As far as the other stuff, you just have to hope your child has good to decent judgement.
