cmon pac stanistas....ya man was wildin in those days, and he probably said some off the wall, reprehensible, slanderous sht about Big, Faith, Puff, and all of his eneeeeemiiiieeeees. The interview would probably create a sht storm, that Martinez would probably just rather avoid.
We haven't heard the interview, so how can we make that call...?

That's like a University Professor giving you an dumb down version of a test, because he believes based on your background, you will be just too stupid to pass the real test...

You think she /had more knowledge and wisdom then Pac at this time?

Do you really believe an interview with 2Pac from 1996 was about knowledge and wisdom... :rudy: This shyt was probably something that had no place being aired on radio, discussed street shyt that belonged on the street instead of the airwaves, etc... and if it lead to bigger problems, she and the station would've had to take the blame for perpetuating it.

You talkin' like this nikka was droppin' some Malcolm X type knowledge and was getting silenced... all respect to Pac but he was the epitome of gossip and drama in '96.

I think she didn't want any violence to jump off even though we lost Pac & Biggie shortly afterwards. There were people around that time period trying to squash that nonsense but it got out of control. In her eyes that interview wouldn't have helped the situation which I respect.

But she can still release it now

Thats a poor analogy...

And Im sure others have listened to the interview, and probably agreed with her assessment. Are you familiar with Pac's behavior and rhetoric in those days? Even in the snippet she released you can tell he was talking crazy as hell. The fact of the matter is that she would bear the brunt of whatever would be the fallout from that interview, not you --- so its in her interest to protect himself. Also, Pac isnt here anymore to defend himself.

I always find it funny when people start a disrespectful comment off like this. If you are going to be disrespectful at least be man enough to acknowledge that that's what you're doing.

Homie... this is a fukkin message board. I got no reason to "hide" shyt or dress anything up. I said what I said and it is what it is. I respect the man, I think he was intelligent and talented... and I also think that at times, he acted unintelligently and wasted his talent. 1996 in particular was a year during which he was into a lot of gossip and drama, while being a mouthpiece for a label run by someone whose own ignorance drove it into the ground.

(1) It is a good analogy in my perspective, but since you didn't point out why you think it is a poor analogy, and really is nothing I can state...

(2) She is in the media...As a professional, she has a DUTY to give the truth, and nothing but the truth...

(3) I don't think 2Pac was talking crazy...He was expressing his perspective and understanding of the situation...A lot the things 2Pac said have been proven true...Jimmy Henchman ordered 2Pac to be "disciplined"...Biggie and Puffy were buddy-buddy with dude....They were laughing and having a good old time while 2Pac was getting drilled in the elevator...

New York media concocted rumours of 2Pac getting raped in jail...Basically, when the man was down and out, they showed him no mercy nor compassion, so what did they expect when he got his weight up...?

(4) She would NOT bear the brunt of ANYTHING...She interviews 2Pac, she posts the interview verbatim, and let the public decide...Nobody gave a damn about an Angie Martinez back then, people wanted to hear what 2Pac had to say...

(5) If the interview is verbatim, then there is nothing to defend...That was 2Pac's truth at that point in time...He had just been shot 5 times, and he believed some people who were suppose to be his friends were either involve or did not support him when it was time to ride, he was sentenced for a crime he believed he did not commit, while he is down and in misery, New York media is spreading rumours about him getting raped in jail and all types of slander...

(6) What Angie did back then was very UNPROFESSIONAL....For people like me who have very little respect for journalism, it only proves our assumptions of journalism being nothing but systematic propagandist gossip...

...that she only aired 5 minutes of because of her PERSONAL opinion that it was to inflammatory.

My thoughts,

I see this as just another example of the media filtering what thoughts get shared to the world through their arrogant, narrow lens of life. Her arrogance to even question someone like Pacs knowledge and wisdom to the extent where she withheld the thoughts he wanted to express to the world because of her personal perception of right and wrong is disgusting.

The purpose of a INTERVIEWER is simply to facilitate their subject to express his or her thoughts on specific issues. Their opinion is completely unnecessary. If their opinion was necessary they would be the ones being interviewed and not the other way around.......

I'll leave it at this, what are your thoughts?

Had this same convo wit my bro last night. I feel it was some sucka shyt to hold it

I'm not your homie. And you don't respect the man if that's what you say and think he was about in 96. Anyone who respects someone doesn't trivialize their actions.

No shots my man but how old were you when all of this was going on? For real, in 96' Pac was popping off with his mouth just about any time he did an interview. As someone said above he was talking reckless at the time really going at people & I imagine that interview was filled with that. There was no Power 105.1 back then & Hot97 was THE radio station mecca for hip hop. Angie had an idea how serious the tension was between Biggie & Pac & the East & West being in the industry & hearing things.Back then she was messing with Q-Tip who Pac verbally went in on so I know she knew some things. People were really ready to go to war over this rap ish for real. You can't blame her for not wanting that on her conscience if something happened (which it did because we lost 2 great young artists).

Sound sound sound
its funny that shes talking like she had all the creative control and power to put out whatever she wanted....she obviously brought it back to the higher ups, and they edited the fukk out of it :heh: it had nothing to do with her opinion

im assuming she has a little more power and say in these things now...and its been nearly 20 years anyway..so who cares at this point...they might as well put it out
