Today’s stars are loaded with wrestling ability, but overall have a complete lack of mic skills/charisma (or aren’t allowed to show it). The WWE being so dead-set on brand promotion instead of promoting the wrestlers themselves is a major hindrance on people today.

Ambrose and Bray are about the only 2 memorable talkers, I also like Velveteen Dream in NXT. You can see Triple H's fingerprints all over how the talent is developed on the mic nowadays, just passably good and convincing enough but nothing memorable and artistically free like the stars of the past. I don't know if you can create a Rock or Stone Cold through a promo class.

I used to think that the WWE was holding people back from showing their charisma, but seeing a lot of them in a non wrestling environment or show up on AEW has made me change my mind. They definitely do hold some people back, but a lot of these wrestlers are just fans whose dream it was to become a wrestler and not learn how to be a wrestler.
