Lil Wayne does Arena Tours, and has been doing them since 2009. (he was on Forbes list with $37M in earnings in 2012) He is not doing anything less than 300k. I can personally guarantee you that.
Drake, Lil Wayne, etc are doing arena size venues.. you can not book these guys 9 times out of 10 for concerts. Live Nation or AEG is handling all that. They do 90% of tours in the music industry, from J.Cole, to Lil Wayne to Schoolboy Q etc. SMH.. fall back negro, u dont know sh*t about the ins and outs of the concert industry.
Dudes like Lil Wayne can get like 50K per show or higher, so some of these older guys can get 5K for a small show. If they do 2 shows amonth, that's 100K a year.
A dude like Fabolous is still making a ton of money. Drop a mixtape then tour small venues in the USA, then go to Europe.

Thats not a promoter paying for performance fee's.
They are with a company who can PAY for artists performance fees thru endorsements.
For the simple fact a promoter is NOT going to break even paying Lil Wayne 300k + rider, room and board AND opening acts.
We can use Oracle Arena that has 20000 seating for concerts-
That means that a promoter would have to charge ATLEAST $40 a ticket and sell EACH ONE to make a 100k profit…Thats Wayne performing solo..at THIS one ARENA.
So getting anything LESS that 300k and getting SHOWS for 300k are to diff things..
And If I can get to Kayne…I think I can get to Lil Wayne.
Edit:And yes Live nation and AEG are pushing indie promoters out the game…

# 1. A Lil Wayne concert at Oracle arena will not have any tickets at $40. It will be $65-$150 (since there is no General Admission)
# 2. Live Nation and AEG do not need sponsors to cover artists costs, since they are both worst Billions, respectively.
# 3. Since Live Nation and AEG Operate a lot of the buildings they do the concerts at, they keep a majority of the revenue that comes from alcohol, food, merchandise etc For instance, here is a list of Stadiums, Theaters, Arenas, that are operated by AEG. AEG Facilities | Theaters/Clubs
# 4. Lil Wayne's last tour "Americas Most Wanted" (all NBA size arenas) was done by LIve Nation: Lil Wayne Reveals America's Most Wanted Tour Dates | Billboard
# 5. A regular promoter is not going to book a Lil Wayne, Drake, Jay Z, etc for a concert... Live Nation or AEG is. (and that goes for all the top Rock Bands as well)

Consequence said he worked as a security guy for a store after he wrote for tribe called quest and Hype Williams walked in and saw him working, i think cons said he was embarrassed but he had to get money, i think he even said hype offerd him another job or something.
i know he isnt a huge guy in the rap world but that says something, he said this on vlad tv or combat jack, i cant remember.
