Series finale this muthafukka aint got a goddamn thing going for him.
Still wanna know what happened to his basketball career.
:deadmanny:
That shyt disappeared just like Lisa did after she said no at the wedding.

...where his mom and her dad also got married. :mjtf:

I get nikkas like this show but people in here really acting like the shyt was infallible. Martin is the GOAT sitcom to me and even that's not perfect.

Cosby Show, Different World, Martin, Different World, Fresh Prince

Even Living Single

Those might be the last of the great Black TV shows...no disrespect to anything that came afterwards, but I vividly remember watching these things as a youngin and enjoying the fukk out of them even if half the jokes went over my head.

shyt most of the serious episodes, even if as a kid, I understood, because my parents and family schooled me to the reality of the world early on

Carlton was a real one.

This the exact scene I was thinking of when I read that nonsense bout Carlton being a c00n :gucci:

It was funny tho when they had that flashback episode of their old apartment and Carlton said “I’m black? :dwillhuh::mjlol:

But Carlton was no c00n

No one in the household was :mjpls:

And Jeffrey was way funnier than given credit for. No one clowned Phil better than him.

How was Jeffrey a slave when he tossed around the most Ether in the whole damn show:gucci:

And STILL got a date with a Naomi Campbell with his unprofessional ass…

Jeffrey had the best job ever.

He was wild effortless with it too :mjlol:

When Carlton was telling him bout all the great things the hypnotist can do and Jeffrey responded “can he make me believe I care? :comeon:

All I have to add is that almost all of these 90s sitcoms aged terribly, they really aren't that good. Martin stands out to me as the one exception and maybe there's another one or few, but Fresh Prince is ass and most of the other ones were too...

It's cool to look back on things with nostalgia and what they meant in the moment, but as you age and time goes on you can see the flaws in these things. The overwhelming majority of us were adolescents when shows like Fresh Prince were out so we regard and cherish it thru the eyes we had as children...

These shows really weren't that good...

:gucci:

Nah you wilding, it’s still funny till this day :unimpressed:

This nikkas father was a judge, his mother a college professor and he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. How the fukk is he jumping the same hurdles as normal black people? :dead:

Phil and Vivian were black activists and their first born might as well be a blonde white woman :dead::dead:

"Why do we keep doing this to ourselves?" Why did you shield your children from their own people then be surprised when said people can't relate to them years later? :dead::dead::dead:

This scene was so full of shyt and its usually doled out by nikkas just as corny if not worse than Carlton.

I liked that scene but I can’t disagree with this :ehh:

One of the biggest hurdles "normal black people" have to jump is breaking this perpetual cycle of stupidity where we think it's "normal" for us to have less, and anyone blessed to become successful and produce children that don't have to deal with the same struggles as others is no longer "normal" or accepted, when we should all be striving to make that the new normal for all of us.

You have a blessed Sunday and I hope your Mother is enjoying her Mother's Day..

Real shyt tho :ehh:

Add on breh

@Zero to not type a essay, the simplest hurdle we all have as black folks is the color of our skin. Regardless of where people come from and how they were raised, we all face instances were the first thing people look at is the color of our skin. The show touches on these topics from issues with police, to laws, to jobs, to school etc... Shyt, within the past year TV was filled with black folks from different sectors of life dealing with law enforcement. If you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you.

This is a constant issue within the community, and the separation needs to stop on both sides. I don't think it's an issues of shielding our own people, the black experience is so different for everyone. We all just need to focus on the fact that we're black, and there is not one way in which we are raised/think. Relatability is one thing, cause rich folks from other races don't always relate to those within their race, but the one thing I noticed that differentiates them is that they still recognize they are the minorities and still stick together.

Kanye still has one of the truest lyrics "even if you're in a benz, you're still a **** in a coupe"

- typed this on the phone so grammar is f**ked

Imagine both your parents being black activists and it took your hood cousin from Philly to remind you that you're a Black man in America. :dead:
