I had a theory that it had to do with black people working manual labor jobs that required them back when there was less opportunities for us :jbhmm:

I once saw an old high school yearbook from like 1988 and they had Timberlands associated with punk rockers in the style section

Didn't get into Timbs until highschool around 97.

I mostly remember hi teck bots before that in the early 90s.

I heard that it was because drug dealers in NYC wore them in the winter time, as they had to be outside in all kinds of weather conditions. They would travel to New England to get them. From there, it became popular with everyone in the hood. Before that, it was mostly white construction workers in the NE who wore them.

They weren’t that expensive at first. They were sold at army surplus stores and places where you could dress shoes. Once they got popular they started taxing. I don’t think my mother paid $100 for my first pair

1989 was the year I first seen cats rocking timbs.....people would be shocked at how many so called 90s styles started in 89'

Wasn't common yet but that was the first year I seen nikkas wearing baggy clothes also
