I gotta get some of the other OGs in here. @Bugsmoran @Michael's Black Son @The HONORABLE SKJ @Cat piss martini @Buckeye Fever @Ol' Otis @Flav
this story always amused me and shows you how small the industry is.....during that time i worked at a AM radio station in a medium sized market in the south
i worked under a program director whom had strong ties with Uptown/mca records....use to get mad pre released 12 inch singles like the sick "Blue Funk" single by Heavy D.
Misa and Suge has history prior to the Death Row / Bad Boy beef in the mid 90's...
Marion "Suge" Knight during the late 80s and turn of the decade into the 90s worked as head of security of arena tours for Al Haymon Productions which during the early part of 92 was promoting a Uptown/MCA tour featuring Jodeci and Mary J. Blige
Misa was in constant contact with Suge during that time
and Contrary to what alot of people assume...Suge and Puff were actually good friends during this era
They both people in thier camps whom were mutual associates of each other.Jake Robles (death row) and Wolf (bad boy)...dikk Griffey (solar records) & Andre Harrell (uptown)...Harry O (west coast kingpin) & Uncle Zip (hustler)
in fact the industry personality in atlanta whom shared with me the story of Suge first meeting Misa on tour in 1992 introduced me to someone who worked alongside Puff on Mary's debut album on Uptown/MCA i talked to whom met both of them while at the Jack the Rapper convention back in early 1993 said it stemmed from issues with Andre Harrell...
Suge's original intent in working with Mary J. Blige..and Jodeci was from a management perspective ..in fact Suge "influenced" Diddy to break camp and start his OWN LABEL......
because Diddy was an A&R under Andre whom was responsible for crafting the new youth sound of uptown (jodeci...mary)
but thier relationship started to demise
once Suge felt that Diddy had betrayed him by sabotoging his intrest in breaking those acts out of those draconian contracts they held with Andre and Uptown/MCA......
Suge was constantly in NYC during that time interacting with Puff, Chris Lighty and many of the respected "black brass"of the industry... and came in contact with Misa alot...and thier ..Blige's stylist at the time , the industry cat i talked to said Suge viewed personalities such as Andre Harrell and Russell Simmons as the "old heads" whom were "kissing up to the crackers" and holding young black moguls like himself and diddy from taking the lead....
Suge really believed in becoming a new type of black entrepreneur whom was self made and soveriegn based on thier intent to own their own Master recordings and intellectual property something that was unheard of in the music industry.
don't know how or why they chose to hook up but it evidently was "spite" or at best a "grudge fukk" (fukk another man's byatch just to shame him).......
Suge ain't had no feelings for her and it was obvious
havent watched the interview but i knew she has been discussed here before
