A top tier wrestler back in the day(I can't for the life of me remember who it was) was doing a shoot interview and was asked about Ric Flair. He said that in a match against Flair at about the 45 minute mark of the match , Flair says to him "We should begin to turn this match up a notch!!!" The wrestler said "What?!! I was just about to drop from exhaustion!" and here is Flair talking about "turning it up!!!"

In fact Barry Windham said that he has fought Flair in one hour broadways( time limit draws) in two different cities on the same fukkin day!!! Hell, he and Flair actually fought a 90 min broadway down in Florida and he (windham) won a bet with someone in the back by running for a mile after the match.

But all in all people have said that back in the day Flair could wrestle for an hour and then go partying all night and be ready to fight the next night.

How did Flair have such great conditioning/endurance compared to other wrestlers? What were his workout routines like back in the 1970s-1980s?

What's really amazing is that Flair fukked up his fukking back when he was not a top star. He ended up losing a lot of weight and not doing flat-back bumps like everyone else does (this actually might help out with this stamina tbh).

But yeah his genetics are ridiculous, but he also had to be on cocaine in those matches. I've heard on multiple shoots that he would pretty much rule the stairmaster while everyone else was lifting weights.

Do you know how many minutes a day he used the stairmaster?

I do think it was do to him doing crazy cardio workouts and etc.

But also do to that older style of "slowing shyt down" not a lot of "explosive" shyt and sprinting or jumping and alot of resthold type shyt.

Hell you can get in the ring with someone and put them in a headlock for like 5 minutes, then put them in a wristhold for another 15+ working that shyt. Then throwing them out the ring for a 10 count that you break up extending and etc.

shyt was different back then

  • Conditioning.
  • Cocaine
  • Wrestling in America; Hogan could work great technical matches in Japan, but in America, it's all about showmanship.
  • Having a Great Partner; Having a person your familiar with, you begin to develop a chemistry, which allows you to trust them to not hurt you, but internally your already a step ahead in terms of knowing the next move/the next spot/or a match event like a run in.
  • Proper bumping. As if you know how to hit the canvas, you won't get the wind knocked out of you.
