How did Peloton convince people to spend $20 a month to use their $2500 treadmill

Same way people buy $3,000 TVs, and pay 100-150 a month for cable.

People buy $1,200 phones, and pay 100-200 dollars a month for service

People buy $3,000 computers / laptops, and pay 80+ for internet.

People buy 50 - $70,000 BMWs, and spend 2000 – 3000 a year fixing and maintaining it

Like all of these things I mentioned before, owning a Peloton became somewhat of a status symbol. Secondly, there are people that pay 15-20 dollars for Quality cycling classes several times per month, and saw on the Peloton as an investment. Lastly, people thought it was going to be years before gyms open back up again.

Once gyms open back up, people slowly starting to figure they were wrong about all of these assumptions, and the change in overall perception began to reflect itself in the decline in sales.

Bought an Airdyne off the marketplace 125 dollars
Heart rate monitor 45 dollars
Youtube Airdybe workouts priceless

I mix this up with Long slow distance running 3x a week with speed track work 1 or 2x a week.

Folks just need that extra push and think money is the key. If I had the money i would but I don't.

Just because it’s overpriced to you doesn’t mean it’s overpriced to some or many. A lot of their customers prefer the convenience, accountability-factor, have multiple users per household, prefer the flexibility and privacy of a at-home service/product.

Marketing plus privacy and discretion. Nobody wants to be the fattest person in the gym

But nothing you named warranted $2500; whether broke or a millionaire. Overpriced is overpriced…

Overprice/Underprice are based on value….it’s just not as valuable to you as it to some.

Personally for me it’s overpriced(due to being single and having access to multiple gyms from crossfit/boxing/condo/office gyms)…but could understand where other can see the value given the price

A simple treadmill will do the same job. Peloton is t going to make you lose more weight faster than a treadmill bought from Amazon.

It can do if you have a screen, live classes and leaderboards etc.

It’s not just a piece of equipment and that’s what they’re selling you. If you can find a machine with the same decent quality and tech (including the screen) then yeah.

My thing is I can build a whole damn home gym for $2500. Cardio machines, free or mechanical weights, punching bags, etc for that price. I think it’s more of the fact that people don’t actually know the value of things they buy.

Maybe I shouldn’t be so technical, but a couple motors, pulleys, belts, digitizers, and plastic housing dont cost anywhere near $1000, let alone $2500. People are out here paying for brand names and hype nowadays.

same way when you buy a 50k truck you have to pay $20 a month for Sirius

(dealing with that right now but imma cut it off)
Call listener care, tell them you wanna cancel cuz it's too expensive. They gone transfer you to a retention agent who will give you price options that actually make sense. I think I pay $35 for 6 months or some shyt like that for sirius select. Only thing is, you'll have to call every time the time period is up and say you wanna cancel so set alerts in your phone but yea brethren don't pay them folks full price for that shyt
